The Omega HHT41B series is a handheld digital stroboscope designed for industrial speed measurement and motion analysis. The unit operates in three distinct modes to support specific inspection needs: Internal Mode, External Mode, and Tachometer Mode.

  • Internal Mode: Generates flash rates from 100 to 12,500 FPM (Flashes per Minute) for visualizing rotating or reciprocating machinery without external triggers.
  • External Mode: Synchronizes with an external signal source ranging from 5.0 to 12,500 FPM using a TTL-compatible input.
  • Tachometer Mode: Measures rotational speed directly from 5 to 250,000 RPM when connected to a sensor or pulse generator.

The device is engineered for single-handed operation in industrial environments. Users should observe safety warnings regarding moving machinery; objects viewed may appear stationary while actually moving at high speeds. The instrument contains lethal voltages and is not user-serviceable.

Operating Conditions & Performance

Performance specifications vary by operating mode, with accuracy defined as the greater of a fixed FPM value or a percentage of reading:

  • Internal Mode Accuracy: The greater of ±0.5 FPM or ±0.01% of reading.
  • External Mode Accuracy: The greater of ±0.1 FPM or ±0.01% of reading, with a trigger-to-flash delay of less than 5 µsec.
  • Tachometer Mode Accuracy: The greater of ±0.1 FPM or ±0.01% of reading.

The unit features a stable crystal oscillator time base and provides a flash duration typical of 10 to 30 microseconds with light power rated at 150 mJ/Flash (7 watts equivalent, Output = 1100 LUX). The display is a backlit 6-digit alphanumeric LCD with 0.3 inch [7.62 mm] high digits.

Power is supplied by a removable 6 Vdc rechargeable battery pack containing integral electronics charge control compatible with PR115, PR230, or PR Universal Rechargers (9 Vdc @ 300mA).   • Memory Storage: Saves eight programmable flash rates and retains the last flash rate at power down.
  • Pulse Output: Provides a 350 µsec positive pulse (5 Vdc typical) via a phone jack connector for external recording or triggering.
  • Sensor Options: An optional self-powered sensor is available to support Tachometer mode measurements.

The series includes multiple SKUs representing different package configurations, including the base unit (HHT41B) and various kit options (DKIT, KIT, PAK). The device contains a sealed lead acid battery that must be disposed of in accordance with Federal, State, and Local Regulations.
