Supported Applications

The Omega IP210A and IP210 series are General Purpose Current to Pressure I/P Converters designed for industrial process control applications. These electropneumatic transducers convert an analog electrical input signal, typically 4-20 mA, into a proportional linear pneumatic output pressure suitable for driving pneumatic actuators or valves.

Operating Conditions & Performance

The series offers distinct performance envelopes depending on the specific model family. The IP210A Series (models X15 and X30) provides an accuracy of ±1.5% FS, while higher range models in this family (X60 and X120) list an accuracy of ±2.3% FS. In contrast, the standard IP210 Series achieves a tighter accuracy of ±0.5% FS across its ranges.

Performance characteristics include repeatability better than 0.5% of span for both series families and hysteresis less than 1.0% of span. Linearity is specified as <1.0% of span for IP210A-X15/X30 models and <2.0% of span for X60/X120 variants.

Operating ambient temperatures vary by series: the IP210A Series operates from -29 to 60 °C (-20 to 140 °F), while the IP210 Series supports a wider range of -20 to 70°C (5 to 160°F). The units require oil-free, clean, dry air filtered to 25 μm. Supply pressure requirements differ by model; for example, the IP210A-X15/X30 requires supply at least 3 psi above maximum output pressure, whereas X60/X120 models require 5 psi above.

Configuration Options

The series supports multiple pneumatic output ranges to match specific control needs. Available configurations include:

  • IP210A Series Output Ranges: 3-15 psig, 6-30 psig (X30), 2-60 psig (X60), and 3-120 psig.
  • IP210 Series Output Ranges: 3 to 15 psig, 3 to 30 psig, 3 to 60 psig, and 3 to 120 psig.

Housing options include a NEMA 4 Type enclosure with epoxy-painted zinc die castings for the IP210A Series. The standard IP210 Series features an IP65 rated sealed case constructed from similar materials. All models utilize a 1/4" FNPT pressure port and DIN 43650 electrical connections with screw terminals included.

Power configurations vary: most models are loop powered, except the IP210-X120 which requires an external 24 Vdc power supply in a 3-wire system. Wetted materials include nitrile diaphragms, nozzles, and supply valves.

Key Product Differences

The primary distinction between the two families lies in accuracy class and enclosure rating. The IP210 Series is specified with an IP65 rated housing and ±0.5% FS accuracy, whereas the IP210A Series carries a NEMA 4 Type designation with accuracies of ±1.5% or ±2.3% FS depending on range.

Supply pressure limits also differentiate the models: the IP210A-X15/X30 supports up to 100 psi, while X60/X120 variants support up to 150 psi (with a specific note for IP210-X120 requiring 80 psi max supply or 135 psi in certain configurations). Air consumption varies by flow rate requirements; the IP210A Series consumes approximately 0.1 SCFM, while higher pressure variants consume less.
