Supported Applications

The Dwyer Series MGO Gear Operators provide heavy-duty on-off or throttling service for valves and dampers. These manual actuators are designed to work with any BFV Series butterfly valves, offering a mechanical solution for flow control applications requiring self-lubricated operation.

Operating Conditions & Performance

The series features a rugged cast iron body with O-ring body seals that is weatherproof. A self-locking worm and worm gear mechanism holds the valve in the desired position without external power. The operators are constructed from cast iron housing, hardened steel internals, and NBR seals.

Configuration Options

The Series MGO offers configurable performance based on valve size compatibility, with specific output torque ranges and mechanical advantages for each model class:

• MGO-1T, MGO-2T, MGO-3T (Sizes 2" to 6"): Output Torque Min/Max of 1328 in-lb (150 N*m) / 2390 in-lb (270 N*m); Ratio 24:1; Mechanical Advantage 6.72.
• MGO-4T, MGO-5T (Sizes 8" to 10"): Output Torque Min/Max of 4425 in-lb (500 N*m) / 6196 in-lb (1200 N*m); Ratio 30:1; Mechanical Advantage 8.1.
• MGO-6T (Size 12"): Output Torque Min/Max of 8851 in-lb (1000 N*m) / 10621 in-lb (1200 N*m); Ratio 50:1; Mechanical Advantage 13.5.

• A readily accessible hand wheel for manual operation.
• A valve position indicator to visualize actuator status.
• Mechanical travel stops that permit field adjustment for specific degrees of rotation.
• Square ISO male keyway type connection.

Key Product Differences

Variants are distinguished by their compatible valve sizes and resulting torque capabilities. Models MGO-1T, MGO-2T, and MGO-3T support 2", 2.5", 3", 4", and 6" BFV Series butterfly valves respectively, sharing identical weight (11.5 lb / 5.2 kg) and torque specifications. Models MGO-4T and MGO-5T serve 8" and 10" sizes with increased torque capacity and a weight of 28.6 lb (13 kg). The largest variant, MGO-6T, is configured for 12" valves, delivering the highest output torque range in the series at a weight of 33 lb (15 kg).
