Supported Applications

The Omega FLCN-100 Series Controllers are general-purpose flow controllers designed to accept one flow sensor input and provide a single relay output for low-flow pump or process protection. The series is intended for use with compatible liquid and gas flow switch sensors, specifically the FST-200 & FST-300 series from Omega Engineering.

Documented applications include:

• Liquid Flow Switches: Compatible models include FST-211-SPST (PP/PPS, Short), FST-221-SPST (PP/PPS, Long), FST-212-SPST (PVDF, Short), and FST-222-SPST (PVDF, Long).
• Gas Flow Switches: Compatible models include FST-321-SPST (PP/PPS, Short), FST-323-SPST (PP/PPS, Long), FST-322-SPST (PVDF, Short), and FST-324-SPST (PVDF, Long).

The FLCN-101 variant specifically functions as a flow alert or level alert single sensor controller. It provides an amber lens strobe light to call immediate attention to alarm conditions.

Operating Conditions & Performance

The series operates within specific environmental and electrical limits defined by the enclosure electronics and relay specifications:

• Ambient Temperature Range: -40° to 158°F (-40° to 70°C).
• Maximum Process/Temp Rating: 70°C (158°F) as noted for the FLCN-101.
• Enclosure Rating: NEMA 4X (IP65). The housing is liquid-resistant but should not be immersed.
• Housing Material: Polypropylene (PP), flame retardant, U.L. 94 VO rated.

Electrical performance parameters include a selectable power supply of 120 / 240 VAC at 50 - 60 Hz with maximum consumption of 5 Watts for the controller and 3 Watts max for the strobe alert. The relay output is an isolated, sealed single pole double throw (SPDT) Form C contact rated for a maximum switching voltage of 120 Vdc or 240 Vac and a maximum switched current of 16A resistive load.

Time delay functionality is adjustable from 0 to 60 seconds. The strobe alert features a Xenon tube flashing at 1 per second with a life expectancy of 10M cycles, providing brightness greater than 50,000 CP.

Sensor Power & Connections

The controller provides sensor excitation via terminal block connections:

• Terminal (S): Provides 14 VDC to the switch input.
• Terminal (+): Provides 24 VDC power to the switch.
• Terminal (-): Ground.
• Sensor Supply: Documented as 24 VDC @ 100 mA in general specifications and 13.5 Vdc @ 100 mA for specific FLCN-101 configurations.

Configuration Options

The series supports configurable options to meet different installation needs, including relay state selection and visual alerting:

• Relay Configuration: Selectable Normally Open (NO) or Normally Closed (NC) states. An invert switch allows changing the relay state from NO to NC without rewiring.
• Visual Alert: Optional flashing alarm (Strobe Alert) with an amber lens is available on specific models like the FLCN-101.
• Mechanical Mounting: Features a 3/4" NPT female process connection and a single 1/2" NPT conduit entrance. The enclosure includes a 300° swivel base for rotation.

The series is offered in specific model variants including the FLCN-111 (Single Input Flow Controller, NPT Thread), FLCN-111-CE (with CE compliance), and FLCN-101 (with Strobe Alert).

Key Product Differences

The primary distinction within the series is the inclusion of visual alerting hardware. The standard controller models provide relay output for process protection, while the FLCN-101 variant integrates a high-intensity strobe light to serve as an operator alarm.

• FLCN-111: Single Input Flow Controller with NPT Thread.
• FLCN-111-CE: Includes CE compliance (EN 61326 EMC, EN 61010-1 Safety) alongside the standard controller features.
• FLCN-101: Single Input Flow Controller with NPT Thread and integrated Strobe Alert. Dimensions for this variant are listed as 7.1 D x 16.2 cm H (2.8" x 6.4") including the strobe assembly.

All variants share the same Polypropylene enclosure material, NEMA 4X (IP65) rating, and compatible sensor families for liquid and gas applications.
