The Omega CSF4 Series consists of rugged, ceramic-insulated finned strip heaters designed for trouble-free installation in air heating and space conditioning systems. The product overview identifies typical applications including duct heating, drying ovens, food warmers, dehumidifiers, shrinking tunnels, and heat curing processes.

Operating Conditions & Performance

The CSF4 series features a maximum sheath temperature of 650°C (1200°F). Electrical specifications support operation up to 480 Vac with a maximum amperage of 25 A. Watt density ratings vary by air condition and operating temperature range:

  • Still Air – Up to 149°C (300°F): 3.1 Watt/cm², 20 Watt/in²
  • Still Air – 149 to 316°C (300 to 600°F): 2.5 Watt/cm², 16 Watt/in²
  • Still Air – 316 to 427°C (600 to 800°F): 1.6 Watt/cm², 10 Watt/in²
  • Moving Air at 3 m/sec – Up to 93°C (up to 200°F): 6.2 Watt/cm², 40 Watt/in²
  • Moving Air at 3 m/sec – Up to 204°C (up to 400°F): 4.7 Watt/cm², 30 Watt/in²
  • Moving Air at 3 m/sec – Up to 316°C (up to 600°F): 3.1 Watt/cm², 20 Watt/in²

Tolerances are specified as Resistance Tolerance: 10%, -5% and Wattage Tolerance: 5%, -10%. The heaters operate on 120V or 240V AC power supplies.

Configuration Options

The CSF4 series is constructed with a helically wound resistance coil in a ceramic insulator, housed within stainless steel rectangular tubing. Voids are filled with high-purity magnesium oxide for thermal conductivity and dielectric strength. Key configurable dimensions and materials include:

  • Sheath Material: 304 stainless steel
  • Fins: Nickel plated steel (stainless steel optional)
  • Dimensions: Width including fins is 51 mm (2"); height including fins is 35 mm (1⅝"). Lengths range up to 0.61 m (24") with a tolerance of ±⅛", and over 0.61 m (24") also carries a ±⅛" tolerance.
  • Mounting: Standard mounting slot size is 8 x 13 mm (⅝ x ½"). A larger slot size of 13 x 16 mm (½ x ⅝") is available for secondary insulating bushings required at voltages above 300V.
  • Electrical Connection: Screw terminals with stainless steel 10-32 UNF threads.

The series supports various termination types and offers options such as Igloo™ Ceramic Covers (Types C6, C7, C8) to fully insulate standard terminal lugs. Secondary Insulating Bushings (Model CERR-1001) are available to increase effective space between the heater and grounded surfaces for electrical clearance at high voltages or series connections.

The CSF4 series is offered in multiple wattage configurations ranging from 250 Watts to 4150 Watts, with specific model numbers corresponding to length and voltage (e.g., CSF00252 for 250W at 120V). The product line includes both 120V and 240V AC variants. Custom engineered heaters can be designed to meet specific requirements by specifying the type of application, termination type, length, secondary bushings, wattage, Igloo™ Ceramic Terminal Covers, and voltage.
