Supported Applications

The Omega FSH Series consists of ceramic-insulated finned strip heaters designed for fast heat transfer in air heating, air ovens, and load banks. The series features a seamless stainless steel sheath with post terminals, utilizing aluminum fins as standard to provide maximum radiating surface area.

Operating Conditions & Performance

The FSH Series is engineered for operation up to 800 °F (427 °C). Maximum watt density varies based on air velocity and temperature. For still air, the series supports a maximum of 16 Watts/sq. in. at temperatures from 300 to 600 °F (149 to 315 °C) and 10 Watts/sq. in. for temperatures from 600 to 800 °F (315 to 427 °C). In moving air at 600 Ft./min., the maximum watt density is rated at 30 Watts/sq. in. for temperatures between 200 and 400 °F (93 to 204 °C) and 20 Watts/sq. in. from 400 to 600 °F (204 to 315 °C). At an air velocity of 1200 Ft./min., the maximum watt density reaches 35 Watts/sq. in. for temperatures between 200 and 400 °F.

Wattage tolerances are specified as -10 to +5% at rated voltage. Length tolerances are ±1/16" (±1.6 mm) for lengths up to 24" (610 mm), and ±1/8" (±3.2 mm) for lengths of 24" (610 mm) and over.

Configuration Options

The series offers a range of configurations defined by length, wattage, and voltage. The model number guide follows the format FSH-<LENGTH>-<VOLTAGE>. Available variants include:

  • Voltage Options: 120 V or 240 V.
  • Wattages: Ranging from 300 Watts to 2500 Watts across the series models.
  • Finned Lengths (F): Available in sizes corresponding to model numbers such as FSH-080, FSH-105, FSH-120/FSH-121, FSH-150, FSH-180/FSH-181, FSH-237, and FSH-357.
  • Fin Material: Aluminum fins are standard; stainless steel fins are available for corrosive environments.

The construction includes a seamless stainless steel sheath with magnesium oxide packing. The element wire is situated close to the outside surface to maximize heat transfer and minimize internal temperature while preserving dielectric qualities. Ceramic element support is included in all units.

Key Product Differences

Variants within the FSH Series differ primarily by overall length (A), finned length (F), wattage, and voltage rating. For example, the FSH-080 models provide 400 Watts with an overall length of 8" (20 cm) and a finned length of 3" (8 cm). The FSH-181 series offers higher power at 1250 Watts with an overall length of 18" (46 cm) and a finned length of 13" (34 cm). Mounting hole centers are fixed at 1/2" (13 mm).
