Supported Applications
The Omega OM-AM Series consists of non-metallic fiberglass electrical enclosures designed to insulate and protect electrical controls and components. These NEMA 4X (IP66) JIC size junction boxes are intended for both indoor and outdoor applications, with specific suitability noted for higher temperatures and corrosive environments.
Operating Conditions & Performance
The series is constructed from a fiberglass reinforced polyester formulation. The documented ambient operating temperature range is -35 to 130°C (-31 to 266°F). All OM-AM Series enclosures are supplied complete with 304 stainless steel mounting feet and screws.
Configuration Options
The series offers a broad configuration envelope covering box sizes from 6 x 6" up to 20 x 16", available in flat or raised cover styles. The following options are documented:
- Cover Styles: Flat covers and raised covers (adding an additional 1¼" of depth for switches and devices).
- Latching Options: Screw closures, snap latches, twist latches, padlocking latch closures, and hinged models with stainless steel continuous hinges.
- Viewing Windows: Models designated with a 'W' suffix include viewing windows; key lock kits cannot be used on window models.
- Hinge Construction: Hinged models feature stainless steel continuous hinges.
The series supports the following accessories and special configurations:
- Sub-panels: Available in fiberglass, aluminum, or steel for various enclosure sizes (6 x 6" through 20 x 16").
- Front Panels: Aluminum front panels are offered for raised cover enclosures to provide maximum configuration within a single unit.
- Key Lock Kits: Available for flat and raised cover enclosures (including versions with front panels), supplied with water-tight covers and 2 keys.
- Pole Mount Kits: Offered for enclosures ranging from 6" to 16" wide.
Color options include special orders for red, blue, yellow, or white on models with heights between 8 and 14 inches (add '-R', '-B', '-Y', or '-W' suffix).
Key Product Differences
The OM-AM Series distinguishes variants by cover type, closure mechanism, and the presence of viewing windows. Model numbers follow a structure such as OM-AM<MODEL>-<COVER TYPE>-<CLOSURE TYPE>-<COLOR>. For example, an OM-AM1648RTW indicates a 16 x 14" raised cover with twist latches and a viewing window. Raised cover models are specifically noted for accommodating additional depth requirements compared to flat front covers.
