Supported Applications
The Dwyer Series ZV1 Two-Way Zone Valves are designed for flow control in hot and cold water HVAC systems. These electrically driven valves operate in conjunction with a thermostat to regulate room temperature. The series serves as direct replacements for competitor units, featuring an externally accessible manual override lever.
Operating Conditions & Performance
The Series ZV1 operates within specific ambient and process limits while maintaining defined pressure ratings across sizes. Ambient operating temperatures range from 32 to 104°F (0 to 40°C). Process temperature limits are specified as 0 to 201°F (0 to 94°C) in the instruction manual, with a data sheet listing 32 to 201°F (0 to 94°C).
Pressure capabilities vary by line size. The maximum pressure rating is 300 psi (20.7 bar). Close-off pressures are rated at 22 psi (1.5 bar) for 1/2" and 3/4" sizes, and 14.5 psi (1 bar) for the 1" size. The valves exhibit a quick opening flow characteristic with cycle times of 11 seconds to open and 5 seconds to close.
Configuration Options
The series is available in three line sizes: 1/2", 3/4", and 1". Standard power requirements are 120 VAC or 24 VAC, ±10%, 50/60 Hz, with a power consumption of 6.5 W. The input signal is On/off.
Configuration options include:
- Sizes and Cv Values: 1/2" (Cv 3.78), 3/4" (Cv 3.78), and 1" (Cv 8.02).
- Voltage Options: Standard models support 24 VAC or 120 VAC; a 220 VAC power supply is available by consulting the factory.
- Process Connections: Female NPT is standard, with optional BSP or sweat connections available upon request.
- Accessories: Optional auxiliary switches are offered for specific control needs.
The valve body utilizes wetted materials of Brass, SS (Stainless Steel), and NBR. The housing material is Aluminum with a General purpose enclosure rating. Electrical connections consist of 22 AWG wire, 5" (127 mm) long.
Key Product Differences
The Series ZV1 distinguishes between Normally Open (-NO suffix) and Normally Closed configurations in its model numbering system. For example, the selection table lists models such as ZV1022-NO (Normally Open) and ZV1022 (Normally Closed). The valves are electrically driven to open and spring-return to close.
Physical dimensions vary by size:
- 1/2": Overall length A: 4.15 in (105.5 mm); Width B: 3.54 in (90 mm); Height C: 2.48 in (63 mm).
- 3/4": Overall length A: 4.15 in (105.5 mm); Width B: 3.66 in (93 mm); Height C: 2.48 in (63 mm).
- 1": Overall length A: 4.31 in (109.5 mm); Width B: 3.74 in (95 mm); Height C: 2.48 in (63 mm).
The Series ZV1 is not field serviceable; units requiring repair must be returned to the factory with a return authorization number.
