Supported Applications

The Omega CDH221 is an economical, microprocessor-based digital conductivity meter designed for portable quality control and testing. The series identity includes the CDH221 model with a probe included. Documented applications include agricultural processes, water conditioning systems, beverage production, fish hatcheries, laboratory environments, universities, and general industrial uses.

Operating Conditions & Performance

The meter measures conductivity across two ranges: 0.2 to 2.0 mS on the 2 mS range and 2 to 20.0 mS on the 20 mS range. Resolution is 0.001 mS for the lower range and 0.01 mS for the higher range. Accuracy is specified as ±(3% FS +1d) at a reference temperature of 23 ± 5 °C. The device features automatic temperature compensation from 0 to 50 °F (32 to 122 °F). Sampling time is approximately 0.4 s.

Operating conditions require an ambient temperature between 0 and 50 °C (32 to 122 °F) with humidity less than 80%. The probe supports a process temperature range of 0 to 60 °C (32 to 140 °F). Power is supplied by a DC 9V battery, included in the kit. The enclosure rating is splashproof front.

Configuration Options

The series includes specific configuration options and accessories for maintenance and calibration:

  • Data Output & Features: RS232 output standard, data hold function to freeze measured values on the display, maximum/minimum memory recall, and overload indication (display shows "1").
  • Housing & Display: ABS-plastic housing with a large LCD display featuring 21.5 mm digit height; overall meter dimensions are 200 x 68 x 30 mm (7.9 x 2.7 x 1.2 inch).
  • Probe Specifications: The included conductivity probe utilizes a 4-pin connector, has an overall length of 120 mm with a diameter of 22 mm, and includes a 1.06 m (3.5") cable.
  • Calibration & Replacement Parts: Available accessories include the CDE221 replacement conductivity probe, MN1604 replacement 9V battery, and conductivity standards: CDSA-1500 (1500 μS), CDSA-4500 (4500 μS), and CDSA-1413 (1413 μS).
  • Carrying Cases: Optional hard carrying case (CA-06) or soft carrying case with sash (CA-52A).

Key Product Differences

The primary model in this series is the CDH221, described as a conductivity meter with probe. The data sheet distinguishes between the meter unit and replacement components such as the CDE221 probe or specific calibration standards (CDSA-1500, CDSA-4500, CDSA-1413). While related model numbers like CDH222 appear in the series code title, the provided documentation details specifications specifically for the CDH221 configuration.

I am looking for a meter to sense moisture and/or water in a fuel tank. Would this sense water that would gather at the bottom of a fuel tanks? I would then want to pump the water out and have the sensor shut the pump off once gasoline is sensed.

Asked by: Jackins
Thank you for your inquiry on this product. A conductivity probe with a transmitter would be better to detect or sense water since it is conductive compared to gasoline. You may look at the DPU91 conductivity transmitter with the required module, DPU90-C, and a probe to be able to sense water at the bottom of the tank.
