Supported Applications
The Dwyer® Series 100 Durablock manometers are precision instruments designed for the measurement of static pressure, vacuum, and differential pressure. These portable units serve air conditioning and heating engineers in field and laboratory environments to determine air volume flowing through coils by measuring static pressure drop across cooling systems. The series is utilized during installation and servicing of residential and small central air conditioning systems.
Specific applications documented for the broader family include:
- Draft measurement in combustion systems
- Air velocity testing in ducts using traverse methods
- Furnace draft monitoring
- Air filter pressure drop assessment
For air volume calculations, the gage measures static pressure differentials which must be converted to flow volume using manufacturer-provided curves. Recommended static pressure differentials for cooling coils are between .10" and .20" water column.
Operating Conditions & Performance
The Series 100 Durablock manometers feature solid transparent plastic construction (Durablock®) or metal housings, providing durability with no moving parts to get out of order. The series is designed for permanent accuracy and includes a pressure rating up to 100 psig.
Performance specifications vary by model:
- Accuracy Class: ±2% of Full Scale (±1% on Model 115 Only)
- Process Temperature: Up to 150°F
The instruments utilize Dwyer® .826 sp. gr. red gage fluid for inclined models, with cleaning restricted to mild soap and water; other fluids or solvents may damage the unit. For laboratory applications requiring ±2% accuracy, specific precautions include using ducts 4" (101.6 mm) in diameter or greater, smooth straight sections of 10 diameters length upstream, and adherence to specified traverse sketches.
Measurement Ranges
The series offers multiple ranges across inclined and vertical styles:
- Inclined Type Models (e.g., 100.5, 102.5): .10-0-1.0 in w.c., .20-0-2.0 in w.c.
- Low Range Inclined: .05-0-.50 in w.c. (Model 101), .05-0-.25 in w.c. (Model 115)
- Vertical Type Models (e.g., 104, 170): Ranges from 0-.50 in w.c. to 0-10 in w.c.
Configuration Options
The Series 100 Durablock encompasses both inclined and vertical (well-type) styles, available with plastic or metal carrying cases depending on the model size. The series supports various scale lengths to accommodate different resolution needs:
- Inclined Models: Scale lengths range from 2-1/2" (Models 170, 171) to 8-3/4" (Models 102.5, 109).
- Vertical Models: Scale lengths vary from 4-1/2" (Model 104) to 11-1/8" (Model 104-10).
Housing materials include plastic and metal. Accessories available for the series include two magnetic mounting clips, rapid shut-off nylon tubing connections, a terminal tube, extra bottles of .826 red gage fluid, and rubber tubing.
Model-Specific Dimensions
- Models 100.5 & 102.5: Overall dimensions approximately 13-1/2" x 10" x 2-3/8" with plastic cases.
- Model 170: Compact design at 7" x 9" in a plastic case.
- Models 104-8 & 104-10: Metal carrying cases, dimensions approximately 18-1/2" length.
Key Product Differences
The series distinguishes between inclined and vertical configurations to suit different pressure ranges. Inclined models (e.g., Models 100.5, 101, 102.5, 109, 115) provide extended scale lengths for higher resolution on low-pressure readings.
Vertical well-type manometers (Models 170, 171, 104 series) offer a more compact footprint with shorter scales suitable for higher pressure ranges up to 25 in w.c. Model 115 is unique within the inclined group by offering ±1% accuracy and .005 minor scale divisions.
Carrying case materials vary: Models 170, 171, 104, 101, and 115 utilize plastic cases or pouches, while larger vertical models (104-8, 104-10) are supplied with metal carrying cases. Note that Model 100.5 replaces the legacy model 100, and Model 102.5 replaces model 102.
