Supported Applications
The Omega SICSS-DUAL series consists of Dual Element Thermocouple Assemblies with Miniature Size Connectors. These assemblies are manufactured using 4-conductor OMEGACLAD™ wire and feature SMP subminiature connectors for fast hook-up.
Operating Conditions & Performance
The series meets or exceeds Special Limits of Error (SLE) and EN 60584-2: Tolerance Class 1. Standard miniature glass filled nylon connectors are rated to 220°C (425°F). Higher temperature liquid crystal polymers connectors rated 260°C (500°F) are available by adding 'LCP' to the model number.
Dimensions and Construction
- Diameter: 1.5 mm (0.062") or 3 mm (0.125")
- Overall Length: Standard length is 150 mm (6"); other lengths are available in the variant list.
- Junction Types: Grounded, Ungrounded, or Exposed.
Configuration Options
The series supports a wide range of thermocouple alloys and sheath materials to accommodate specific process requirements. Mating connectors (SMPW-*-F) and cable clamps are sold separately.
Thermocouple Alloys
- Type J: IRON-CONSTANTAN with 304 SS Sheath
- Type K: CHROMEGA™-ALOMEGA™ with 304 SS Sheath
- Type E: CHROMEGA™-CONSTANTAN with 304 SS Sheath
- Type T: COPPER-CONSTANTAN with 304 SS Sheath
Sheath Materials and Options
The standard sheath material is 304 Stainless Steel. The series supports the following alternative wetted materials:
- Stainless Steel: 310, 316, or 321 (change 'SS' to '310SS', '316SS', or '321SS'; no extra cost)
- Inconel® (change 'SS' to 'IN'; no extra cost)
- Super OMEGACLAD™ XL (change 'SS' to 'XL'; additional cost applies)
Connector and Accessories
The probes feature SMP subminiature connectors. The following accessories are required for installation:
- Mating Connector Model No.: SMPW-*-F
- Cable Clamp Model No.: PCLM
- Safety Clamp Model No.: SMCL
Key Product Differences
Variants within the SICSS-DUAL series are distinguished by thermocouple type, sheath diameter (1.5 mm or 3 mm), junction configuration (Grounded 'G', Ungrounded 'U', Exposed 'E'), and overall length.
- Model Number Structure: Thermocouple Alloy - Sheath Diameter (mm/inch) - Junction Type - Model Number suffix '-DUAL' indicates the dual element assembly. Example: SICSS-062G-6-DUAL represents an Iron-Constantan, 1.5 mm diameter, Grounded junction probe.
- Length Coding: The numeric segment following the junction type often denotes length in inches (e.g., '-6-' for 6").
- Sheath Material Codes: 'SS' indicates standard stainless steel; specific grades or alloys are indicated by replacing 'SS' with codes such as '310SS', 'IN', or 'XL'.

How much of the dual element thermocouples need to be in contact with the medium being measured? I'm specifically interested in the 6" air probes. Thanks!
Thank you for your inquiry. We recommend exposing 10 times the diameter of the probe, starting from the tip, into the medium being measured.
