Supported Applications

The Omega DR-IO Series consists of solid-state mini rail mount input and output modules designed for industrial control applications. These DIN rail signal conditioners interface real-world discrete signals with computer interfaces and electronic equipment that typically operate at low-level TTL (0/5 Vdc) logic levels. The series enables high-density mounting on standard 'C' or Top Hat 35 mm DIN rails to connect field devices requiring AC or DC switching.

Operating Conditions & Performance

The modules provide electrical isolation of 4,000 Vrms between logic and field circuits. They operate within an ambient temperature range of -30 to 70°C (-22 to 158°F) and can be stored from -40 to 100°C (-40 to 212°F). Performance specifications vary by model type:

  • AC & DC Output Modules (OAC/ODC): Field output ranges include 12-280 Vac for OAC models, and 5-60 Vdc or 5-200 Vdc for ODC models. Logic input voltage is typically 4-28 Vdc, with specific AC logic inputs (90-280 Vac) available on the DR-IO-OAC-RA-280.
  • AC & DC Input Modules (IAC/IDC): Field input ranges cover 90-280 Vac for IAC models and 4-28 Vdc for IDC models. Logic output is provided at 4-28 Vdc with a maximum load current of 100 mA.
  • Response Time: Turn-on time is specified as 20 ms (μs) for DR-I.O.-IAC-R0-280 and DR-I.O.-IAC+R0-280 models. For IDC input modules, turn-on times are listed as (30) ms (μs) for the negative logic version and (60) ms (μs) for the positive logic version.

Configuration Options

The DR-IO Series is configurable across input/output functions, voltage ranges, and logic polarity. Modules feature screw terminals for electrical connections and include an LED logic indicator. A 10-position jumper strip accessory (DR-IO-JUMPER) is available to interconnect positive or negative logic terminals.

Output Module Configurations

  • AC Output: Models such as DR-IO-OAC-R0-280 and DR-IO-OAC-RA-280 provide 12-280 Vac field output. The RA variant accepts a logic input of (90-280) Vdc/Vac.
  • DC Output: Models including DR-IO-ODC-R0-060, DR-IO-ODC-RL-060*, and DR-IO-ODC-R0-200 offer field outputs of (5-60) Vdc or (5-200) Vdc. The RL suffix denotes a low off-state leakage model with 100 μA @ max field voltage.
  • Load Resistance: Specified as 1,500 Ω for most OAC and ODC models; the DR-IO-OAC-RA-280 lists a load resistance of 40,000 Ω.

Input Module Configurations

  • Polarity Options: Input modules are available in Negative and Positive logic versions. Negative logic modules produce a high logic signal when the field input goes low; positive logic modules follow the field signal.
  • Voltage Ranges: IAC models handle 90-280 Vac field inputs, while IDC models accept (4-28) Vdc field inputs. Logic output voltage drop is specified at 0.5 Vdc @ 100 mA load for input modules.

Key Product Differences

The series distinguishes between Input and Output functions, with further differentiation by signal type (AC vs. DC) and logic polarity. Physical dimensions vary slightly: output module height is 63 mm (2.48 in), while input modules are listed at 60 mm (2.36 in); both share a width of 80 mm (3.15 in) and depth of 7.5 mm (0.30 in). Case colors identify module types: Black for AC Output, Red for DC Output, Yellow for AC Input, and White for DC Input.
