Supported Applications
The Omega TXDIN101 is a DIN rail universal smart transmitter designed to convert various sensor inputs into a standardized process current loop. It accepts Thermocouple (T/C), Resistance Temperature Detector (RTD) configured as 2-, 3-, and 4-wire, Potentiometer (POT.), resistance ($\Omega$), and millivolt (mV) signals in single or differential modes.
The unit functions as a transmitter-monitor combination with an integral LED display visible in dark installations. It is engineered for applications requiring galvanically isolated two-wire transmission where the output current serves as both the signal and the light energy source for the display intensity.
Operating Conditions & Performance
The TXDIN101 utilizes a 24-bit A/D converter and dual microprocessors to achieve exceptional digital accuracy of typically $\pm$0.1°C for most sensors regardless of calibrated span. The device samples and updates the output current at a rate of 2 to 4 samples per second, depending on sensor type.
Key performance characteristics include:
- Cold Junction Compensation: Internal Pt-100 temperature sensor provides precise compensation throughout the entire ambient range.
- Fault Detection: Sensor breakage or input lead disconnection forces the output to a pre-defined up/down scale value. The unit automatically returns to normal operation when the sensor is recovered.
- Housing Protection: IP20 protection level with UL-94-V0 flame retardant rating in plastic polycarbonate housing.
Voltage and Power Specifications
The transmitter operates on a 13–36 Vdc power supply. The output signal is configurable as 4 to 20 mA, 20 to 4 mA, or any range within these limits. Output current clamping is set at 3.9 and 22 mA.
Configuration Options
The TXDIN101 series supports a wide envelope of configurable parameters stored in non-volatile memory via CONCAL software using COM or USB ports (CONUSB modem cord, length: 1.5 m). Configuration can be performed in dry mode without an external power source.
Configurable Parameters
- Sensor type and input range selection
- Connection type configuration for RTD (2-, 3-, or 4-wire) and differential modes
- Output offset, curve correction, and clamping factor
- Burnout type direction (up/down scale)
- Sensor calibration parameters
Electrical Connections
The unit features a 6-terminal screw connection block. Terminal assignments vary by input mode:
- RTD Inputs: Terminals 1 and 2 (2-wire); Terminals 1, 2, and 3 (3-wire); Terminals 1, 2, 3, and 4 (4-wire).
- Differential RTD/mV/T/C: Utilizes specific terminal pairings with differential symbols.
Mechanical Dimensions
The transmitter is housed in a plastic polycarbonate enclosure designed for standard DIN rail mounting. Overall dimensions are 36 W x 91 L x 58 mm D (1.4 x 3.6 x 2.3"). The unit weighs 85 g (0.18 lb) and can be mounted in any operating position.
Key Product Differences
The TXDIN101 is available as a single model family with specific accessory options to support installation and configuration:
- TXDIN101: DIN rail smart transmitter base unit.
- TX69-CABLE: Communication cable for PC programming.
- PSR-24-L: Regulated power supply, 24 Vdc, 400 mA with stripped leads (UL).
The series includes a special red filter provided for optimal view of the LED display. The product is certified to ISO 9001 and ISO 9002 standards.
