Supported Applications

The Omega DRSL-U is an isolated universal input DIN rail signal conditioner designed for the galvanic isolation of process signals to SCADA systems or PLC equipment. It accepts thermocouple, RTD, linear resistance, potentiometer, voltage, or current inputs and converts them to a linear voltage or current output. The unit eliminates ground loops, allowing for floating signal measurements.

Operating Conditions & Performance

The DRSL-U operates within an ambient temperature range of -25 to 70°C (-13 to 158°F) and a storage temperature of -40 to 85°C (-40 to 185°F). It is rated for humidity from 0 to 95% RH non-condensing with an enclosure rating of IP20. The device features excellent EMC performance with 50/60 Hz noise suppression.

Response time specifications are ≤1 s for Temperature Input (0 to 90%, 100 to 10%) and ≤400 ms for mA/V input (0 to 90%, 100 to 10%). Basic accuracy varies by input type, including ±0.2°C for Pt100 sensors, ±1.0°C for Thermocouple Types E, J, K, L, N, T, and U, and ±16 μA for mA inputs.

Measurement Ranges

The series supports the following documented input ranges:

  • Thermocouples: Types J (-100 to 1200°C), K (-180 to 1372°C), T (-200 to 400°C), E (-100 to 1000°C), R and S (-50 to 1760°C), B (0 to 1820°C), N (-180 to 1300°C), L (-200 to 900°C), U (-200 to 600°C), W3/W5 (0 to 2300°C), and LR (-200 to 800°C).
  • RTDs: Pt100 (-200 to 850°C) and Ni100 (-60 to 250°C).
  • Linear Resistance/Potentiometer: 0 to 10,000 Ω or 10 to 100 kΩ.
  • Voltage/Current: 0 to 12 V, 4 to 20 mA, and 0 to 20 mA inputs are supported with output options of 0 to 20 mA, 4 to 20 mA, or 0 to 10 Vdc.

Power & Load Specifications

The unit requires a power supply of 16.8 to 31.2 Vdc via power rail or connectors. The maximum load resistance is specified as 20 mA/600 Ω/15 Vdc max.

Configuration Options

The DRSL-U features a slimline housing with overall dimensions of 113 H x 6.1 W x 115 mm D (4.4 x 0.24 x 4.5") and weighs approximately 70 g (0.15 lb). It utilizes screw terminals for electrical connections and is designed for DIN Rail Mounting.

Configuration is performed using the DRSL-DISPLAY programming interface, which plugs into a docking station adaptor. The device uses electronic hardware switches to set parameters without opening the enclosure or adjusting internal DIP-switches. The DRSL-DISPLAY features a 4 line LCD display with scrolling help text in English, French, German, Italian, Spanish, Danish, and Swedish.

  • DRSL-PCU: Power connector unit, 24 Vdc/2.5 A output to power rail.
