Supported Applications
The Omega DRSL-DC4 is a bipolar isolated DIN rail signal conditioner designed for process signals. It provides galvanic isolation and converts bipolar process voltage and current inputs to unipolar output signals suitable for SCADA or PLC systems. The device eliminates ground loops and supports the measurement of floating signals.
Operating Conditions & Performance
The DRSL-DC4 operates within an ambient temperature range of -25 to 70°C (-13 to 158°F) with a storage temperature capability from -40 to 85°C (-40 to 185°F). It is rated for relative humidity between 0 to 95% RH non-condensing and carries an IP20 protection degree. The unit meets Pollution Degree 2 and Measurement/Overvoltage Category II installation area requirements.
Performance specifications include a response time of <7 ms (or <44 ms selectable) for the 0 to 90% rise and 100 to 10% fall, with an accuracy of <±0.05% of span. The signal-to-noise ratio exceeds 60 dB, and the cut-off frequency is >100 Hz or 10 Hz (selectable via DIP-switch). EMC immunity influence is specified at <±0.5% of span, while extended EMC immunity under NAMUR NE 21, A Criterion, Burst conditions remains below ±1% of span.
Input and Output Ranges
- Bipolar Current Input: Programmable ranges include ±10 mA and ±20 mA. The functional range extends from -23 to 23 mA with an input voltage drop of <1V @ 23 mA.
- Bipolar Voltage Input: Programmable ranges are available for ±5 V and ±10 V, supporting a functional range of -11.5 to 11.5 V with an input resistance ≥1 MΩ.
- Unipolar Current Output: Configurable signal ranges include 0 to 20 mA and 4 to 20 mA. The output supports a load of up to 600 Ω (per channel) at 23 mA, with a current limit ≤28 mA.
- Unipolar Voltage Output: Programmable signal ranges include 0 to 10 V, 2 to 10 V, 0 to 5 V, and 1 to 5 V. The functional range is 0 to 11.5 V with a minimum load resistance of >10 kΩ.
Isolation and Power
The unit features galvanic isolation between input, output, and supply circuits. Isolation voltage (test) is rated at 2.5 kVac, with an isolation working voltage of 300 Vac. The Mean Time Between Failures (MTBF) exceeds 241 years according to IEC 61709 (SN29500). Power supply requirements are 16.8 to 31.2 Vdc via power rail or connectors, with a maximum power consumption of 0.8 W.
Configuration Options
The DRSL-DC4 series is configured for DIN EN 60715 - 35 mm rails and features a slimline housing measuring 113 H x 6.1 W x 115 mm D (4.4 x 0.24 x 4.5"). The unit weighs approximately 70 g (0.15 lb). Factory-calibrated ranges are configurable via DIP switches, and the device supports DIN rail mounting without an air gap.
Connections
The signal conditioner utilizes screw terminals for electrical connections. It accepts stranded wire sizes from 0.13 x 2.5 mm²/AWG 26 to 12 with a recommended screw terminal torque of 0.5 Nm.
