Supported Applications

The Dwyer Series 40T/40M Digital Temperature Switch is designed for temperature measurement and control in food service equipment and industrial process applications. The unit accepts a variety of inputs to allow set points up to 1999°F (1300°C). It features field-selectable °F or °C units and includes functionality for cooling applications, where manual defrost mode can be initiated via a single button.

Operating Conditions & Performance

The Series 40T/40M operates within an ambient temperature range of 32 to 131°F (0 to 55°C). Accuracy is specified as ±1% FS with a resolution of 0.1°C. The front panel carries an IP65 rating, and the unit includes non-volatile memory backup for set point retention.

Measurement ranges vary by sensor type:

• K T/C: -140 to 1999°F (-100 to 1300°C)
• J T/C: -140 to 1450°F (-100 to 800°C)
• RTD: -320 to 1200°F (-200 to 650°C)
• N. RTD: -110 to 570°F (-80 to 300°C)
• PTC: -58 to 300°F (-50 to 150°C)
• NTC: -40 to 230°F (-40 to 110°C)

The unit also supports current and voltage inputs ranging from -1999 to 1999.

Configuration Options

This series offers configurable options for sensor input, power supply, and control logic. The output is a 16A @ 250 VAC SPDT relay (max current allowed is 10 A). Power requirements depend on the model: 12-24 VAC/VDC, 115 VAC or 230 VAC.

• RTDs (PT100, PT1000, NI120) in 2/3 wire configurations
• Thermistors (PTC, NTC)
• Negative RTD (N. RTD)
• Active transducers: 0-20/4-20 mA and 0-10/2-10 V
• Passive transducers: 2/3 wires 4-20 mA

Control & Display Features

The unit features a 3-1/2 digit red LED display with symbols for alarm, defrost, and output status. Control type is On/off. Configurable parameters include set point differential (r0), heating or cooling selection (P5), compressor start/stop timing (C1-C3), fault cycle times (C4-C5), and defrost intervals/durations (d0-d6). Two alarm channels are available with independent set points, delays, and types.

Key Product Differences

The Series 40T/40M is offered in models designated by input type and power supply. The model number guide follows the format: 40 - <INPUT MODEL> - <SUPPLY POWER>. For example, part numbers include 40T-10 and 40T-20. Accessories such as Series TS-Probes are available for digital temperature switch probes.

Compliance certifications include CE and cURus. The unit is not field serviceable; if repair is needed, it should be returned to the manufacturer.
