Supported Applications

The Dwyer Series TSX3 Digital Refrigeration Temperature Switch is designed to control the compressor, fan, and defrost in refrigeration applications. The unit features a built-in real-time clock for HACCP logging of temperature alarms caused by temperatures out of their set limits or loss of power. Intelligent Defrost parameters manage the defrost cycle to save energy cost. Additionally, the digital input can be used to remotely trigger a defrost cycle, monitor cooler door status, or act as an external alarm.

Operating Conditions & Performance

The Series TSX3 operates within an ambient temperature range of 32 to 131°F (0 to 55°C). Measurement ranges depend on the selected probe type: PTC sensors cover -58 to 302°F (-50 to 150°C), while NTC sensors cover -58 to 230°F (-50 to 110°C). The device provides an accuracy of ±1% FS with a resolution of 0.1°. It features non-volatile memory backup and is rated IP65 (NEMA 4X) for the front panel.

Installation notes specify that the unit must be mounted away from vibration, impacts, water, and corrosive gases. Temperature probe cables and digital input wires should not be installed in close proximity to power cables. If the probe cable length exceeds 100 meters, a recalibration adjustment may be made using the P1 parameter.

Configuration Options

The series supports multiple supply voltages including 115 VAC, 230 VAC, 12 VAC/VDC, and 24 VAC/DC (±10%). Output configurations vary by model:

• All models: SPST NO relay resistive load 16A, inductive load 5A, 10 FLA, 60 LRA @ 240 VAC.
• Dual output models: Include an additional 8A resistive, 3A inductive SPDT @ 240 VAC.
• Three output models: Include two additional outputs: 8A resistive SPST NO @ 240 VAC and 5A resistive SPST NO @ 240 VAC.

The device supports field-selectable engineering units and input temperature types (PTC or NTC) to reduce stocked parts. For programming multiple units, the TS2-K configuration key allows for quick download of parameter settings. The series also offers a TS485 communication module for serial communication.

Key Product Differences

Variants within the Series TSX3 are distinguished by supply power and number of outputs. Model numbers follow the format TSX3--<# OF OUTPUTS>-. Available configurations include:

• Supply Power Options: 115 VAC, 230 VAC, 12 VAC/VDC, and 24 VAC/DC.
• Output Counts: Models are available with either 2 or 3 outputs.

The series is not field serviceable; units should be returned for repair if needed. For HACCP compliance, the digital temperature switch can register up to 5 alarms (high, low, or blackout).
