Supported Applications

The Dwyer Series 2700 and Series 2800 Current to Pressure Transducers are electronic pressure regulators that convert a variable current signal into a proportional pneumatic output. These instruments provide precision air pressure regulation for actuators, valves, positioners, and other final control elements in industrial compressed-air systems.

The series is designed for remote or panel mounting applications where space constraints exist. The NEMA 4X enclosure enables installation indoors or outdoors. Both series are FM and CSA approved for intrinsically safe operation, supporting hazardous location requirements including Class I, II, III divisions and zones as specified by the model.

Operating Conditions & Performance

The Series 2700 and 2800 operate on loop-powered excitation with a standard input of 4-20 mA. Output pressure ranges are available in two configurations: 3 to 15 psig (0.2 to 1.0 bar) or 6 to 30 psig (0.4 to 2.1 bar). The maximum supply and output pressure rating is 100 psig (6.9 bar).

Performance specifications differ by series:

  • Series 2700 Accuracy, Hysteresis, and Repeatability: <±0.5% of span.
  • Series 2800 Accuracy, Hysteresis, and Repeatability: ±0.1% of span.

Ambient operating temperatures range from -20 to 150°F (-29 to 66°C) for the Series 2700 and -40 to 160°F (-40 to 71°C) for the Series 2800. Storage temperature is rated at -40 to 200°F (-40 to 93°C). The units require oil-free, clean dry air filtered to 40 microns; failures due to instrument air contamination are not covered by warranty.

Configuration Options

The series offers configurable mounting and connection options tailored to specific installation needs. Both models feature a chromate-treated aluminum housing with epoxy paint, rated NEMA 4X (IP65/IP66) and intrinsically safe. Electrical connections utilize a 1/2" female NPT conduit entry.

Process connections are provided via 1/4-18 NPT ports for air supply and output. The Series 2700 includes an integral volume booster to increase flow capacity and control speed in critical applications. The Series 2800 utilizes a closed-loop pressure feedback system with a piezoceramic actuator, providing compensation for vibration, mounting angle, temperature, and supply pressure variations.

Available accessories include:

  • A-180: Valve mounting bracket for Hi-Flow™ control valves (Series 2800 only).
  • A-181: DIN rail mounting kit suitable for EN-50035, EN-50042, and EN-50022 rails.
  • A-182: Pipe clamp mounting kit for 1-1/2" and 2" pipes.

The Series 2700 is not vibration resistant. The Series 2800 is field reversible via internal switches to configure direct acting, reverse acting, or split range operation.

Key Product Differences

Differences between the two series are defined by their control mechanisms and performance envelopes:

  • Series 2700 (Models 2713-WP, 2716-WP): Features an integral volume booster for high flow capacity. It is designed for remote or panel mounting with external zero and span adjustments. Weight: 1.3 lb (0.59 kg).
  • Series 2800 (Models 2813-WP, 2816-WP): Employs a closed-loop pressure feedback system for enhanced stability against environmental variations. It is field reversible and features input/output ports on both the front and back of the unit. Weight: 0.8 lb (0.37 kg).

Both series are not field repairable; units requiring service must be returned to Dwyer Instruments, Inc.
