Supported Applications
The Omega CRIMPING TOOLS series is designed for electrical and industrial applications, specifically noted for use with thermocouple alloy pins and sockets. These tools facilitate the crimping process required in temperature sensing installations where reliable mechanical connections are necessary.
Operating Conditions & Performance
The product overview describes these instruments as economical solutions featuring rubber-embedded handles designed for operator comfort. The series includes heavy-duty precision models equipped with ratchet action to ensure consistent crimping results, while other variants utilize spring or manual mechanisms. A 1-year warranty is provided for the tools.
Configuration Options
The CRIMPING TOOLS series offers a range of configurations distinguished by mechanical action and intended use cases:
- Ratchet Action Models: Includes economical versions (CRIMPING TOOL-P, SM-CTHD-P) and heavy-duty precision tools (CRIMPING TOOL, SM-CTHD).
- Economical Manual Tools: The SM-CTE model is described as an economical crimping tool with ratchet action.
- Heavy-Duty Spring Action: Model MTC-CT features a heavy-duty design with spring action rather than a ratchet mechanism.
- Specialized Bushing Tools: The BB-SMP-CT is designated specifically as a crimping tool for brass bushings.
In addition to the primary crimping tools, the series documentation lists specific accessories available for related operations:
- MTC-IT: Insertion tool
- MTC-RT: Removal tool
Key Product Differences
Variants within this series are differentiated by their mechanical design and specific application focus. The naming convention distinguishes between "Economical" models, often denoted with a "-P" suffix in certain model numbers (e.g., CRIMPING TOOL-P), and "Heavy-duty" versions intended for more demanding tasks. While most tools feature ratchet action to control the crimp cycle, specific variants like MTC-CT utilize spring action, and BB-SMP-CT is tailored exclusively for brass bushings.

Is there a crimping tool designed to crimp thermal couples at the measurement point? I notice there is also a welding tool that does that.
Thank you for your inquiry. Omega does not offer a crimping tool to form a thermocouple junction. We only recommend welding the 2 wires together to form a measuring bead.
