Supported Applications
The Dwyer Model CPS Cable Pull Switch is designed to provide a switching system to isolate power to conveyor systems or other similar process equipment in the event of a shut-down condition. A steel wire placed along the side of the conveyor attaches to the switch; pulling the cable at any point trips the device, causing the connected equipment to stop.
Operating Conditions & Performance
The series operates within an ambient temperature range of -4 to 140°F (-20 to 60°C). The unit features a die cast aluminum enclosure with a NEMA 6 (IP 67) rating. Activation requires a force of 11 ±2.25 lb. (5 ±1 kg) at an angle of 30 degrees. Electrical ratings are specified as 10 amp @ 125/250 VAC and 1/2 amp @ 125 VDC.
Configuration Options
The Model CPS series offers a universal design for bi-directional activation with manual reset control. Key configuration details include:
- Switch Type: 2 SPDT (Single Pole Double Throw).
- Status Indication: Highly visible red flag to indicate switch status.
- Electrical Connections: Three screw terminals configured as common, normally open, and normally closed.
- Conduit Entries: Two 3/4" female NPT connections.
The compact design facilitates easy installation. Installation notes specify that the maximum length of cable between CPS units is 75 feet; variations in temperature may cause cable expansion and contraction affecting this limit.
Key Product Differences
The series includes the Model CPS-1 variant. The device is not field serviceable; if repair is needed, the unit should be returned to Dwyer for authorization before shipping.
