Supported Applications

The Dwyer Series SCS Low Cost Current Switches are designed for monitoring the operational status of fans, pumps, and motors. These devices detect current flow through their core to power an internal circuit without requiring an external power supply. The series provides a signal indicating whether equipment is operating under normal conditions.

Operating Conditions & Performance

The Series SCS operates within an ambient temperature range of 5 to 140°F (-15 to 60°C). Electrical isolation is rated at 600 VAC RMS, and the devices support a frequency of 50/60 Hz. The enclosure carries a UL, 94 V-0 flammability rating.

Performance specifications include:

  • Output Signal (Solid State): Isolated, normally open; rated at 1 A @ 30 VAC/DC max.
  • External Relay Output: SPST N.O., 10A at 260 VAC (5A at 30 VDC).

Configuration Options

The series is available in both solid core and split core configurations to accommodate different installation requirements. Models feature either fixed or adjustable set points, with switch modes configured for "Under" current detection or "Over/under" operation.

  • Solid Core Models: Includes SCS-120025 (.25 to 200 A range), SCS-11100 (1 to 135 A range), and the relay-equipped SCS-11100-R.
  • Split Core Models: Includes SCS-220015 (.15 to 200 A range), SCS-220150 (1.5 to 200 A range), and adjustable set point models such as the SCS-211125.
  • Relay Options: Models with an "-R" suffix include a snap-on relay module for external switching applications.

Housing materials vary by configuration: ABS plastic is used for solid core models, while Type 66 Nylon is specified for split core housings. Optional LED indicators are available on select configurations to provide visual status feedback.

Key Product Differences

Variants within the Series SCS differ primarily by amperage range, set point adjustability, and physical construction (solid vs. split core).

  • Fixed Set Point Models: The SCS-120025 features a 0.25 A fixed "Under" switch mode; the SCS-220015 has a 0.15 A fixed set point; and the SCS-220150 is configured with a 1.5 A fixed set point.
  • Adjustable Set Point Models: The SCS-11100, SCS-211125, and their relay variants (SCS-11100-R, SCS-211125-R) offer adjustable set points with "Over/under" switch modes.
  • Relay Integration: Models designated with an "-R" suffix incorporate a 10 Amp relay module (SPST N.O.), whereas non-relay models provide only the built-in solid state output.
