FMC-5000-Series
Coriolis Mass Flow Meter
- Built for food, beverage, and pharma batching, chemical blending, and petrochemical transfer by mass.
- Measures mass flow, volume, density, and temperature from a single meter with no moving parts.
- Coriolis mass flow meter for direct mass measurement of liquids, slurries, and gases.
- No flow conditioning or straight pipe runs required, so it fits tight skids where other meters won't.

Supported Applications
The Omega FMC-5000 Series Coriolis Mass Flow Meter is designed according to the Coriolis Force Principle. It measures mass flow rate, volume, density, and temperature for liquids, gases, and slurries. The series is used in industries such as petroleum, petrochemical, chemical, pharmaceutical, pulp and paper, food and dairy.
Documented applications include:
- Batch control
- Blending
- Filling
- Dosing
- Custody transfer
- Process gas measurements
Operating Conditions & Performance
The FMC-5000 Series offers accuracy over a wide flow range and requires no flow conditioning or straight pipe runs. The meter is rugged with no moving parts, resulting in minimal maintenance.
- Flow Accuracy/Repeatability: 0.1/0.05% (Liquid Only) for FMC-5100; 0.2/0.1% (Liquid Only) for FMC-5200; 0.5/0.25% for FMC-5500.
- Density Measuring: Range of 0.2 to 3.0 g/cm³ with an error of ± 0.002 g/cm³ and repeatability of 0.001 g/cm³.
- Temperature Accuracy: ±1.0°C.
- Process Temperature Range - Integrated Type: -50 to 125°C (-58 to 257°F).
- Process Temperature Range - Remote Type (-R): -50 to 200°C (-58 to 392°F).
- Ambient Temperature: -40 to 55°C (-40 to 131°F).
- Working Humidity: (5 to 95%) RH at 25°C (77°F).
Configuration Options
The series supports sizes from 15 to 150 mm (½ to 6"). Process connections are available as ANSI, DIN, JIS, or sanitary flanges. Wetted materials include a Body Material of 304 Stainless Steel and Measuring Tube Material of 316 L SS.
Electrical specifications and outputs:
- Power Supply: 18 to 36 Vdc, 85 to 265 Vac (-AC option), 15 W.
- Communications: RS485 (RTU Modbus®) or HART® (-HART option).
- Pulse Output: 0 to 10 kHz, ± 0.075% Full Scale.
- Current Output: 4 to 20 mA, 0.005% Full Scale.
Housing and protection details:
- Protection Rating: NEMA 4X (IP65).
- Electrical Connections: ½ NPT conduit.
- Approvals: CE, RoHS (Pending).
Pressure ratings are available at 16 bar (230 psi), with optional ratings of 25 bar (360 psi), 40 bar (580 psi), and 63 bar (913.7 psi). Flow ranges vary by model size; for example, the FMC-5xx1 supports flow rates from 100 to 3000 kg/h depending on accuracy class.
Key Product Differences
The series is organized into three primary accuracy families:
- FMC-5100 Series: Provides 0.1% flow accuracy (Liquid Only).
- FMC-5200 Series: Provides 0.2% flow accuracy (Liquid Only).
- FMC-5500 Series: Provides 0.5% flow accuracy.
Housing configurations include integrated and remote mounted display/transmitter options. To replace the RS485 communications with HART communications, add "-HART" to the model number for an additional charge. For units with a remote mounted display/transmitter, add "-R" to the model number.
Process connection variations are indicated by suffixes in the model number: change the "A" at the end of the model number to "D" for DIN flanges, "J" for JIS flanges, or "S" for sanitary flanges (liquid only), with no additional charge.

What process controller should I use to interpret the signal from the FMC-5201LA to display liquid density and send a 4-20 mA output to an exterior device?
Thank you for your inquiry! Something like our platinum series devices could be used to fulfill the needs of this application. Please contact us at flow@omega.com so that we can better tailor the instrument to your process.

I see that this meter can measure liquids with a little air in them, is that true in the case of other gases? ie. A majority of liquid CO2 with some CO2 bubbles? If not, could you recommend a high accuracy meter that could?
Thank you for your inquiry with the Coriolis flow meter. It is ideal that the media being measure is a single phase, not a mixture and it can affect the accuracy when measuring. All of Omega's flow products are calibrated to measure single phase medias.

If we were to use this as a totalizer for batches, is there any built-in totalizing option? or would this have to be done in a plc? and if so, im assuming the pulse output would be something specific like "1 litre per pulse" ? is it adjustable? Thank you
Thank you for your inquiry about this flow meter. Yes, it has a totalizer function and can be reset per batch if you wish.
