Supported Applications
The Omega EXPP-TCB series consists of heavy-duty industrial grade thermocouple extension wires designed for connecting a thermocouple probe to a readout or indicator. These cables are utilized in applications requiring durable signal transmission with abrasion resistance, featuring standard construction PVC or PFA wire reinforced by a metal overbraid.
Operating Conditions & Performance
The series supports two primary insulation types with distinct temperature ratings based on the thermocouple calibration:
- PVC Insulated Wire: Rated from 0 to 105°C (32 to 221°F) for Types J, K, and E. Type T extension wire is rated from -60° to 100°C (-76 to 212°F).
- PFA Insulated Wire: Rated up to 260°C (500°F) for Types J, K, and E. Type T extension wire is rated to 200°C (392°F).
The construction includes a metal overbraid of tinned copper or stainless steel with an overall outer jacket of PVC or PFA.
Calibration Types and Materials
The series is available in the following thermocouple calibrations as documented:- Type J: Iron-Constantan
- Type T: Copper Constantan
- Type K: CHROMEGA®-ALOMEGA®
- Type E: CHROMEGA®-Constantan
Configuration Options
The EXPP-TCB series offers configurable dimensions and construction options to meet specific installation needs. Variants are distinguished by insulation material, overbraid type, conductor size (AWG), and strand configuration.Polyvinyl Coated Wire with Tinned Copper Overbraid
The EXPP model line features polyvinyl coating with a tinned copper overbraid. Available configurations include:- Calibrations: J, K, E, and T.
- AWG Sizes: 14 Solid, 16 Solid/Stranded (S), 20 Solid/Stranded (S), and 24 Stranded (S).
- Nominal Dimensions: Ranging from 5.1 x 7.4 mm (0.20 x 0.29 in) for AWG 14 down to 4.0 x 5.1 mm (0.16 x 0.20 in) for AWG 24 Stranded.
PFA Coated Wire with 304SS Overbraid
The EXTT model line features PFA coating with a 304 stainless steel overbraid, offering higher temperature capability. Available configurations include:- Calibrations: J, K, E, and T.
- AWG Sizes: 16 Solid, 20 Solid, and 24 Solid (Note: Table lists Type E-16 as "26 Solid" in the AWG column).
- Nominal Dimensions: Ranging from 3.3 x 5.1 mm (0.13 x 0.20 in) for AWG 16 down to 2.5 x 3.3 mm (0.10 x 0.13 in) for AWG 24.
Length Options
The series is offered in various lengths, including standard increments of 25', 50', 100', 200', 500', and 1000' (300 m). Metric options such as 7.5M, 30M, 150M, and 300M are also available for specific models. Quantities other than standard lengths require consultation with Sales.Key Product Differences
The primary distinction within the series is between the EXPP (PVC/Tinned Copper) and EXTT (PFA/Stainless Steel) constructions, which dictate the maximum operating temperature and environmental durability. Within each construction type, variations are defined by:- Conductor Configuration: Solid conductors versus Stranded (S) conductors.
- Gauge Size: AWG 14 through AWG 24 availability varies by calibration and insulation type.

High Quality Thermocouple wires for any applicatio
Perfect for our application. High quality Thermocouple wires that we would not purchase anywhere else. Lead times has been long recently but it's improved.

Wire good, Omega not.
The wire is good for our application. My problem is with delivery Ordered in April and received in October and only after I contacted Omega about this product. Never got straight answers to why it took so long...
