Supported Applications
The Omega IP710 Series Compact Current I/P to Pressure Converters are designed for industrial process control applications. These electronic pressure regulators convert a standard 4-20 mA current input signal into a linearly proportional pneumatic output pressure. The series utilizes a closed-loop pressure feedback system with a piezoceramic actuator, providing precise control that compensates for vibration, mounting angle, temperature fluctuations, and supply pressure variations.
Operating Conditions & Performance
The IP710 operates within an ambient temperature range of -40° to +160° F (-40° to +71° C) with a storage limit of -40° to +200° F (-40° to +93° C). Performance specifications include guaranteed accuracy, hysteresis, and repeatability of ±0.10% of span across the series ranges. The unit exhibits no measurable effect from position or supply pressure variations.
Vibration immunity is rated at less than ±1.0% of span under conditions of 5-15Hz @ 0.8 inches constant displacement and 15-500Hz @ 10g s. The temperature coefficient is specified as ±0.045%/F (0.07%/C) of span. Electrical loop load requirements are 9.5 VDC @ 20 mA.
Measurement Ranges and Supply Requirements
The series supports multiple pneumatic output ranges, each with specific supply pressure requirements:
- 1-17 psig (0.07-1.2 BAR): Requires 22 to 60 psig (1.5-4.0 BAR) or 20 to 100 psig supply.
- 3-15 psig (0.2-1.0 BAR): Requires 20 to 100 psig (1.4-6.9 BAR) supply.
- 3-27 psig (0.2-1.8 BAR): Requires 32 to 100 psig (2.2-6.9 BAR) supply.
- 6-30 psig (0.4-2.0 BAR): Requires 35 to 100 psig (2.4-6.9 BAR) supply.
- 2-60 psig (0.14-4.0 BAR): Requires 65 to 130 psig (4.5-8.9 BAR) supply; air consumption is 4.5 scfh @ mid-range.
- 2-100 psig (0.14-6.9 BAR): Requires 105 to 130 psig (7.2-8.9 BAR) supply; air consumption is 4.5 scfh @ mid-range.
Air flow capacity varies by model and pressure: typical units provide 4.5 scfm at 25 psig supply or up to 12 scfm at 100 psig supply, while higher range models (X60/X100) offer 20 scfm @ 130 psig.
Configuration Options
The IP710 series is configured for specific pressure ranges and connection types. The housing material consists of chromate-treated aluminum with baked paint, rated NEMA 4X (IP65). Wetted materials include Buna-N elastomers, stainless steel trim, brass, and zinc-plated steel components.
Mounting and Connections
The unit features a pneumatic process connection of 1/4-20 NPT. Electrical connections are provided via ½ FNPT conduit or an optional DIN 43560 connector (indicated by the "-D" suffix in model numbers). Standard electrical leads are 22 GA wire, approximately 18 inches long, with positive, negative, and ground terminals.
Mounting options include wall mounting, panel mounting, or 2-inch pipe mounting. An optional DIN-rail mounting kit is available for specific installations.
Safety Approvals
The series carries FM APPROVED and CSA certifications. Specific hazardous location approvals are documented as:
- IP610/IP710 (Standard): Class I, II, III, Div. 1, Groups C, D, E, F, and G.
- IP610-D/IP710-D: Class I, Div. 1, Groups C and D.
The series is ISO 9001 Certified and ISO 9002 Certified.
Media Compatibility
The IP710 requires clean, dry, oil-free air filtered to 40 microns. It is not designed for use in patient-connected applications or nuclear installations (10 CFR 21).
Key Product Differences
The Omega product line includes the IP610 and IP710 series, which share similar form factors but differ significantly in performance architecture. The IP610 is described as an economical unit with precision air pressure regulation offering accuracy of ±1.0% span or ±2.5% span depending on the range (zero-based units). In contrast, the IP710 utilizes a closed-loop feedback system to achieve higher stability and immunity to vibration, maintaining a guaranteed accuracy of ±0.10% of span.
Physical dimensions for the IP710 are 3.698 in (93.7 mm) height, 2.948 in (74.7 mm) width, and 2.188 in (55.4 mm) depth, with a weight of approximately 13.0 oz (0.4 kg). The IP610 series is heavier, weighing between 590 g (1.3 lb) and 770 g (1.7 lb) depending on the configuration.
Model numbering follows the pattern IP710-RANGE CODE(-D), where the range code corresponds to specific output spans such as X15, X17, X27, X30, X60, and X100. The "-D" suffix denotes the inclusion of a DIN 43560 connector.

Good accuracy, poor longevity
We purchased seven overall for a proof of concept machine. Still proofing out design, but two failures in several months. Very concerned about longevity of product.
