Supported Applications

The Series SBSV-B Brass Solenoid Valve is a compact, general-service, two-way guide-type solenoid valve engineered for air, gas, water, and other liquid applications. Its normally closed (NC) design keeps the line sealed until the coil is energized, making it well suited to on/off control across a broad range of compatible gases and liquids.

The valve can be oriented in any position, though performance is best when the solenoid is mounted vertically above the valve body. The solenoid enclosure protects internal components against dust and guards against the seepage of oil and non-corrosive coolants, allowing the series to be deployed in general-purpose industrial environments. With a NEMA 13 (IP54) enclosure rating, the valve is suited to installations where limited protection against dust and dripping liquids is required.

  • Compressed air and pneumatic control lines
  • Inert and compatible process gases
  • Water and other compatible liquids
  • General-service fluid on/off isolation in machinery and process skids

Operating Conditions & Performance

The SBSV-B handles a process media temperature up to 176°F (80°C) and operates across an ambient range of 32 to 149°F (0 to 65°C). Pressure ranges vary by connection size: the 1/8" and 1/4" models operate from 0 bar up to 13 bar, while the 3/8" through 2" models operate from 0.5 bar up to 13 bar. The rated pressure limit for the series is 17 bar.

The valve body is brass, paired with a 304 SS spring and an NBR seal, over a nylon housing. Process connections are Female NPT, and electrical termination is via a DIN connection. Standard power is 110 VAC, with 220 VAC, 24 VAC, and 24 VDC options available (consult factory). The series carries CE approval.

Flow Performance

Flow capacity scales with line size, expressed as a Cv value. The smallest 1/8" and 1/4" models offer a Cv of 0.23, rising through 4.5, 7.6 and 12 for the mid-range sizes, and reaching 48 for the full 2" model. This lets specifiers match flow capacity to the demands of the application while retaining the same compact valve architecture.

Configuration Options

All SBSV-B models share the same brass, normally closed, two-way guide-type construction, but differ primarily by connection size, orifice, flow capacity, and physical size. Line sizes span 1/8" to 2" Female NPT, giving nine distinct body sizes.

  • 1/8" and 1/4" bodies use the smallest orifice with a Cv of 0.23 for precise low-flow duty.
  • 3/8" and 1/2" bodies step up to a Cv of 4.5.
  • 3/4" bodies deliver a Cv of 7.6.
  • 1" bodies provide a Cv of 12.
  • 1-1/4" bodies reach a Cv of 22, and 1-1/2" bodies a Cv of 30.
  • 2" bodies offer the largest Cv of 48.

Physical size and weight increase with line size accordingly, from the most compact 1/8" body up to the largest 2" body. Every model can be ordered with the standard 110 VAC coil or the optional 220 VAC, 24 VAC, or 24 VDC coils, so electrical compatibility can be matched independently of the hydraulic sizing.

Key Product Differences

The model number follows the pattern SBSV-B<Model> (for example, SBSV-B1N1), where the numeral encodes the body/connection size and the trailing character encodes the voltage/coil option. The full SBSV-B lineup comprises the following 36 variants:

  • SBSV-B1N1, SBSV-B1N2, SBSV-B1N3, SBSV-B1N4
  • SBSV-B2N1, SBSV-B2N2, SBSV-B2N3, SBSV-B2N4
  • SBSV-B3N1, SBSV-B3N2, SBSV-B3N3, SBSV-B3N4
  • SBSV-B4N1, SBSV-B4N2, SBSV-B4N3, SBSV-B4N4
  • SBSV-B5N1, SBSV-B5N2, SBSV-B5N3, SBSV-B5N4
  • SBSV-B6N1, SBSV-B6N2, SBSV-B6N3, SBSV-B6N4
  • SBSV-B7N1, SBSV-B7N2, SBSV-B7N3, SBSV-B7N4
  • SBSV-B8N1, SBSV-B8N2, SBSV-B8N3, SBSV-B8N4
  • SBSV-B9N1, SBSV-B9N2, SBSV-B9N3, SBSV-B9N4

The base sizes map to connections as follows: SBSV-B1N1 (1/8"), SBSV-B2N1 (1/4"), SBSV-B3N1 (3/8"), SBSV-B4N1 (1/2"), SBSV-B5N1 (3/4"), SBSV-B6N1 (1"), SBSV-B7N1 (1-1/4"), SBSV-B8N1 (1-1/2"), and SBSV-B9N1 (2"), all shown with the standard 110 VAC coil.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great customer service and product support These solenoids (I ordered two) are constructed very well. Unfortunately I did not consult with DwyerOmega technical assistance group prior to ordering and also did not pay close enough attention to the specifications. After receiving the solenoids I noticed in the description of the IOM paperwork included that these solenoids would not function properly within my application parameters. DwyerOmega's tech support was very responsive and knowledgeable about their product. I will be returning these if their return policy will allow it.
