Supported Applications

The Omega iTHX-SD Series (iServer MicroServer) functions as a network-enabled temperature and humidity virtual chart recorder. Designed for industrial environments, the unit monitors and records temperature, relative humidity, and dew point over an Ethernet network or the Internet using standard web browsers without special software installation.

Operating Conditions & Performance

The iServer unit operates within an ambient temperature range of 0 to 60°C (32 to 140°F). Storage conditions are rated from -40 to 85°C (-40 to 185°F). The device includes a back-up battery allowing data logging for up to 2 days without external AC power.

Performance specifications vary by sensor type and range:

 • Relative Humidity Accuracy (at 25°C, non-condensing): ±2.75% from 10 to 90%; ±3% from 5 to 10% and 90 to 95%; ±4% from 0 to 5% and 95 to 100%. Non-linearity is ±3%, hysteresis is ±1% RH, and repeatability is ±0.1%.
 • Temperature Accuracy (Wand Probe): ±0.5°C (±1°F) for 5 to 45°C (41 to 113°F); up to ±1°C (up to ±2°F) for 0 to 5°C and 45 to 60°C (32 to 41°F and 113 to 140°F).
 • Temperature Accuracy (Industrial Probe): ±0.5°C (±1°F) for 5 to 45°C (41 to 113°F); up to ±1.5°C (up to ±2.7°F) for -40 to 5°C and 45 to 124°C (-40 to 41°F and 113 to 255°F).
 • Response Time: RH is 8 seconds, tau 63%; Temperature ranges from 5 to 30 seconds, tau 63%.

Data resolution is 0.1%, 12-bit for humidity and 0.1°C, 14-bit for temperature. The included 2GB SD flash memory card supports up to 8 months of data storage at 1-second recording intervals or 7 years at 10-second intervals.

Configuration Options

The series offers configurable probe options and connectivity features tailored to specific installation needs:

 • Sensor Probes: Available configurations include a standard wand probe (iTHP-W-6) or industrial probes with 316 SS housing in lengths of 51 mm (2") or 137 mm (5"). Dual-probe options allow simultaneous monitoring via a DB9 "Y" connector adaptor.
 • Connectivity: Features an Ethernet port (RJ45) supporting fixed or auto-negotiating 10/100BASE-T with Auto MDI/MDIX. Supported protocols include TCP, UDP, SNMP, SMTP, NTP, ARP, ICMP, DHCP, DNS, HTTP, and Telnet.
 • Outputs & Alarms: Two relay outputs (1.5 A @ 30 Vdc) are programmable for temperature or humidity high/low set points with optional latching requiring manual reset. The unit serves active web pages with real-time readings and JAVA applet charts.
 • Power & Environment: Input is 9 to 12 Vdc via a safety-qualified AC adapter (nominal output 9 Vdc @ 0.5 A, input 100 to 240 Vac). Probe cable operating temperatures range from 0 to 80°C for wand probes and -40 to 125°C (-40 to 257°F) for industrial probes.
 • Accessories: Options include porous polyethylene probe caps (for wet environments), porous stainless steel probe caps with 5 um porosity (for dusty, pressurized <35 psi environments), extension cables up to 40', and NIST traceable calibration certificates or kits.

Key Product Differences

The series is distinguished by the included probe configuration:

 • iTHX-SD: Includes a standard wand probe (203 mm / 8") with a 152 mm (6") cable and DB9 connector.
 • iTHX-SD-2: Includes an industrial probe, 51 mm (2"), with a 0.9 m (3') cable and DB9 connector.
 • iTHX-SD-5: Includes an industrial probe, 137 mm (5"), with a 3 m (10') cable and DB9 connector.
 • Dual-Probe Models (-WD, -2D, -5D): Include two probes configured for simultaneous measurement. The iTHX-SD-WD includes two wand probes; the iTHX-SD-2D combines a wand probe with a 51 mm industrial probe; the iTHX-SD-5D combines a wand probe with a 137 mm industrial probe.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Features We have incorporated this device in a Environmental Monitoring Unit for an Antenna Radome to provide us with historical data on the Environmental conditions within the Radome. We have storage data from one system for over 3 years recorded which allows feedback to the OEM of the Antenna and Radome.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Device Does Not Connect and Bad Service Ordered this device for alarms but it has difficulty connecting to network and randomly decides not to connect when hardwired to the computer for configuration. Omega has terrible customer service. Even with the warranty they did not help me fix my problem (took a year of me emailing and calling them before they responded). They sent me back the device saying there was no problem. It still does not work.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Solid devices with absolutely mediocre management These devices run on ancient software, and forget their configured settings every time they lose power. They use 9V batteries for backup, which is not ideal because they can't be charged by the main power source, so if you need to deploy a bunch of these, it will be impossible to keep track of constantly replacing the batteries. The server product is difficult to find information on, and is also garbage with extremely limited features and functionality. They do not support WiFi or PoE for easy deployment options. The only pro to these is that they are accurate, and the device itself is very durable. Everything else stinkss though...look elsewhere.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Works as expected Been installed in a proper machine shop with oil vapor and the likes. Sensor element is trash in my opinion (5% change over 2 years) but designed to be replaced yearly if maintaining certification is your requirement. The iTHX device, although showing it's age, still trucks along just fine. Gathering data is easy and there is no software crippling (why I stay with Omega, it does what it says it does today and 10 years from now). Their documentation allows for anything from a highly engineered system's dev team to a script writer to easily integrate this sensor. Exactly what was advertised, and has never had issues. Also, the last two sensors were of a higher caliber than previously. It's nice to be able to call someone at this price point as well.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Our experience with the Chart Recorder These are nice for laboratory environmental monitoring/logging but somewhat cumbersome to set up and retrieve data from. I could not download data via the Ethernet port to my pc but was able to do so via the SD card. Problem with that was that recording start date and time has to be set each time Standby is pressed and the SD card is taken out then put back in. Overall a decent instrument.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great service and products. I bought this item and when I received it we found that it had a cracked probe. I called Omega and talked to an engineer about this and he immediately sent out a replacement with hardly no questions asked. It was also sent overnight at no charge to me. GREAT service and products.

My unit appears to be functioning normally--it displays temp & humidity & I can access these readings over internet. Recording is "ON". The "R" on the displayed "%RH" is flashing. What does that mean?

Asked by: Calguy
That mean recording is in progress.

When on a yearly calibration cycle, the unit is found to be out of tolerance when sent out for certification, can adjustments be made to bring it into tolerance, or is it “not adjustable” like most Temp/RH recorders.

Asked by: Roman
It is not adjustable

The iTHX-D3 used a separate End Character for Temp, Hum and Dew Point. We knew which one was being transmitted to the PLC based on that end character. Now the D3 has been replaced by the SD and it does not allow us to do this. What options do we have now?

Asked by: MikeS
The SD version does not have the option for the end character that is correct. However management has reinstated the D3 unit so you can contact customer service and return the SD model and order a D3 to fit your needs.

After disabling probe 2 I am getting HT Probe 1 Error. Is the sensor defective?

Asked by: Jyotirmoy
Hello, thank you for your question. If you already saved the configuration for 1 sensor only, then something as a lose connection could be the reason for this message. Please make sure the sensor is fully inserted into the socket. If this is not the case, please contact our Data Acquisition experts for further troubleshooting. The email is das@omega.com or you can give us a call and ask for DAS technical support.
