Supported Applications
The Dwyer Series P8 High Pressure Brass Flow Switches are designed for flow detection in liquid systems. The series is documented for use in industrial cleaning equipment and high pressure lubrication systems.
Operating Conditions & Performance
These switches operate within a process temperature range of -20 to 275°F (-28 to 135°C) with a maximum operating pressure rating of 1500 psi (103.4 bar). The measurement range spans from 0.25 to 2.0 GPM (0.95 to 7.57 LPM), depending on the specific model selected.
Performance specifications include a set point accuracy of ±20% and require filtration of 100 microns or better for liquid media containing particulate or debris. The switches feature an SPST, NO electrical output with ratings up to .4 A AC at 30 VAC and .3 A DC.
Configuration Options
The Series P8 is available in five distinct models (P8-11 through P8-15), each configured for a specific actuation set point:
- P8-11: 0.25 GPM (.95 LPM)
- P8-12: 0.50 GPM (1.89 LPM)
- P8-13: 1.0 GPM (3.79 LPM)
- P8-14: 1.5 GPM (5.68 LPM)
- P8-15: 2.0 GPM (7.57 LPM)
Wetted materials consist of a brass housing, PPS composite piston with epoxy, 316 SS spring, and Fluorocarbon O-ring. Electrical termination is provided via No. 22 AWG, 24" (61 cm) polymeric leads.
Key Product Differences
The primary variation across the series is the actuation set point flow rate defined by the model number suffix. The data sheet specifies a brass housing for this high-pressure configuration; however, related documentation notes that Dwyer In-Line Flow Switches P8 Models are available with stainless steel housings in other configurations.
Set points shown on specification charts are based on a vertical mounting position (inlet port down) using water at +70°F. Some variation in set point actuation will occur if the switch is installed in other orientations or used with liquids of different specific gravities due to ambient temperature changes.
