Supported Applications
The Omega WT Series consists of Bolt-On Washer Thermocouple Assemblies designed for mounting to various surfaces. These surface-mount sensors utilize a washer bolt-on design that secures the sensor against flat or curved planes using standard screw sizes.
Operating Conditions & Performance
Performance is defined by the insulation material selected, which dictates the maximum process temperature:
- Glass insulated wire: Rated up to 480°C (900°F).
- PFA insulated wire: Rated up to 260°C (500°F). Models with PFA insulation are identified by the "TT" suffix in the model number.
The series meets or exceeds Special Limit of Error (SLE) and EN 60584-2; Tolerance Class 1. Construction utilizes 20 AWG solid wire with a grounded junction configuration.
Mounting Dimensions
The washer hole diameter corresponds to specific American and Metric nominal screw sizes:
- #6 / M3.5: Washer Hole Diameter 3.68 mm (0.145 in).
- #8 / M4: Washer Hole Diameter 4.32 mm (0.170 in).
- #10 / M4.5: Washer Hole Diameter 4.95 mm (0.195 in).
- ¼" / M6: Washer Hole Diameter 6.60 mm (0.260 in).
Lead Lengths
Standard lead lengths are available as follows, with custom lengths over 60 inches configurable by modifying the model number length code:
- 12" (300 mm)
- 24" (600 mm)
- 36" (900 mm)
- 60" (1500 mm)
Configuration Options
The WT Series is configurable across thermocouple types, insulation materials, lead lengths, and electrical terminations.
Sensor Types
- Type J (Iron-Constantan)
- Type K (Chromel-Alumel)
- Type T (Copper-Constantan)
- Type E (Chromel-Constantan)
Electrical Connections & Terminations
Stripped end leads are standard. Optional terminations require adding specific suffixes to the model number:
- #10 Spade Lugs: Add suffix "-L".
- Standard OSTW Connectors: Male (add "-OSTW-M") or Female (add "-OSTW-F").
- Molded Standard Round Pin Connector: Male (add "-LRTC").
- Miniature SMPW Connectors: Male (add "-SMPW-M") or Female (add "-SMPW-F").
- Molded Miniature Male Connector: Add suffix "-SRTC".
Special Options
The following options are available upon inquiry with sales:
- Kapton® Insulation
- Custom lengths or sizes beyond standard offerings
Key Product Differences
Variants within the series differ primarily by thermocouple type, insulation material (glass vs. PFA), washer size, lead length, and termination style.
- Insulation: Standard models feature glass braid insulated wire; adding "-TT" to the model number specifies PFA insulated wire for lower temperature applications up to 260°C (500°F).
- Sizing: The second digit in the model code indicates washer size: 6 (#6/M3.5), 8 (#8/M4), 10 (#10/M4.5), or 14 (¼"/M6).
- Length Coding: The final numeric segment denotes lead length in inches (e.g., "-12", "-24", "-36", "-60").

Does a thermocouple that is designed to be bolted to a surface measure the environment very well? I want to measure the temperature of the air using a similar thermocouple
Thank you for your inquiry C James. You can use a Bolt-On Thermocouple to take air temperature measurements.

What is meaning of Minimum Temperature Measurement - 60 in
The heading is incorrect for the column and should read "Lead wire length" and it will be corrected.

Can these be used in environments where high EMI/EMF is expected?
It's difficult to say if these probes would be good or not in that type of environment. There is no special shielding and it is a grounded junction probe so any surface it is attached to if it had this energy induced on it would go right into the TC junction. The safest answer is no or experiment at your own discretion.

Hi, is it possible to use wtk-6-12 on an high voltage cable (70 kV) without damaging the measurement system?
The WT series would not be suitable for mounting to a surface with any Voltage as it is a grounded junction and the readings would not be good and it could damage your instrumentation.
