Supported Applications

The Omega HHC280-Series comprises rugged handheld environmental test meters designed for field engineering. The series includes the HHC280 differential manometer and the HHC281 absolute pressure meter, alongside companion models covering temperature (HHC201/HHC210), RPM (HHC250), light intensity (HHC230), and air velocity/humidity/dew point/wet bulb measurements (HHC261). Documented applications for the HHC280 differential manometer include HVAC system troubleshooting, gas pressure measurements, and use with pitot tubes to measure air velocity.

Operating Conditions & Performance

The series operates within an ambient temperature range of 0 to 50°C (32 to 122°F). The HHC280 differential manometer measures a primary pressure range of 0 to 100 hPa / 0 to 1019.7 mmH2O, with selectable units including mmHg, psi, inH2O, inHg, mbar, and Pa. Accuracy for the HHC280 is specified as ±0.03 hPa (0 to 0.30 hPa); ±0.05 hPa (0.31 to 1.00 hPa); ±0.1 hPa + 1.5% of rdg (rest of range). In mmH2O units, accuracy is ±0.3 mmH2O (0 to 3.0 mmH2O); ±0.5 mmH2O (3.1 to 10.2 mmH2O); and ±1.02 mmH2O + 1.5% of rdg for the remainder of the range.

The HHC281 absolute pressure meter covers a range of 300 to 1200 hPa with an accuracy of ±3 hPa, supporting barometric and altitude measurements. Both models feature Hold/Min/Max/Max-Min/AVG functions, auto power-off after 10 minutes, and a backlight that automatically turns off after 15 seconds.

Configuration Options

The HHC280-Series offers configurable measurement units and specific process connections tailored to the model. The handheld form factor includes dimensions of 24.7 x 50.9 x 132.9 mm (0.98 x 2.0 x 5.2") across models, with weights ranging from 110 g (HHC250) to 148 g (HHC201/HHC210). Power is supplied by two "AAA" batteries included in the package.

  • Process Connections: The HHC280 features dual pressure inputs P1 and P2 with hose barbs. It supports eight selectable units plus air velocity readouts (m/s, fmp).
  • Housing & Protection: All models include a slip-off hard cover shell, rubber bumper, carrying strap, and protection cap.
  • Battery Life: Typical battery life with alkaline batteries varies by model: HHC280 (85 hours), HHC281 (600 hours), HHC201 (250 hours), HHC210 (40 hours with laser), HHC250 (30 hours), HHC230 (180 hours), and HHC261 (50 hours).
  • Approvals: The series carries CE certification.

Key Product Differences

The bundle distinguishes between discrete models within the broader handheld family. The HHC280 is a differential manometer with dual inputs, while the HHC281 is an absolute pressure meter configured for barometric and altitude readings (units include m and ft). Other series members serve distinct measurement functions: the HHC201 is a dual input Type K thermocouple thermometer; the HHC210 combines infrared temperature sensing with air temperature measurement; the HHC250 measures RPM/rps; the HHC230 quantifies light intensity in lux/fc; and the HHC261 functions as a hygro-anemometer for air velocity, humidity, and dew point.

Resolution varies by unit selection on the HHC280: 0.1 hPa/0.1 mmH2O (primary), with per-unit resolutions of 0.01 mmHg, 0.001 psi, 0.01 inH2O, 0.001 inHg, 0.01 mbar, and 1 Pa.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Good Basic Instrument I purchased this Manometer for laboratory testing on residential HVAC duct systems. I am measuring duct pressure "Inches/WC. The specifications stated the Instrument had an "averaging" feature which I badly needed. Turns out the "averaging" feature was only for wind speed, so that was very disappointing. But the instrument works very well and provides stable readings.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Well-priced, accurate, and arrived quickly! It is almost impossible to find an absolute pressure gauge that can cover these ranges. It was relatively inexpensive, accurate, and I received it in just a couple of days after a very easy ordering process. Great product!

Would this unit be suitable for measuring pressure differentials across adjacent cleanrooms of a cleanroom suite? In particular, I want to use the absolute pressure unit because I don't want to drill holes in the walls separating the adjacent walls.

Asked by: Anonymous
Yes. You can move the meter from room to room and monitor the change in the readings.

What is the resolution of HHC280 when measuring under 100 Pa? The datasheet is a bit confusing. Is it 10 Pa or 1Pa?

Asked by: RJag
Thank you for your inquiry, the Resolution is : 0.1 hpa/0.1 mmH2O

What we can do in case of OOT ? Thanks in advance

Asked by: JW1964
If the HHC280 unit is out of tolerance it would need to be returned to us for evaluation. There are no field calibration procedures available.
