Series-AAR

Analog to Relay Interface Device

  • Converts analog signals into relay control: The ACI AAR accepts a single analog input and drives two SPDT Form C relay outputs for practical on/off control from a proportional signal.
  • Ideal for BAS interface applications: Useful for level indication, digital output expansion, alarms, staging, and sequencing.
  • Flexible input compatibility: Supports 0-12 VDC, 0-24 VDC, and 0-20 mA input signals for use with common controllers and analog control outputs.
  • High-capacity relay outputs: Two 10 amp relays provide dependable switching for control circuits, alarms, and staged equipment operation.
  • Selectable deadband control: Each relay can be independently set for fixed or adjustable deadband, giving installers more control over turn-on and turn-off behavior.
  • Expandable edge-connector design: Multiple AAR modules can be connected together to share signal and power, reducing wiring time on multi-stage installations.
  • Field or factory calibration: Relay trip points can be adjusted in the field or factory calibrated to reduce startup time and simplify commissioning.
  • Panel-ready installation: Compact snap-track mounting, pluggable screw terminals, and RoHS2/WEEE approvals make it a practical interface module for control panels.

Supported Applications

The ACI Series AAR is an analog-to-relay interface device controlled by a single analog input signal. It features two independently settable output relays designed for industrial automation applications including level indication, digital output expansion, alarms, staging, and sequencing.

Operating Conditions & Performance

The Series AAR operates on a 24 VAC or 24VDC power supply (+/- 10%), 50/60 Hz. It accepts analog input signals in the following ranges: 0 to 12 VDC @ 1MΩ, 0 to 24 VDC @ 20,000Ω, and 0-20 mA @ 499Ω. The device provides two SPDT Form 'C' relays with a contact rating of 10A @ 120 VAC / 24VAC or 5A @ 240VAC. Relay electrical life is rated for 100,000 operations minimum and mechanical life for 10,000,000 operations.

Operating conditions are specified as an ambient temperature range of 35 to 120°F (1.7 to 48.9°C) with a humidity rating of 10 to 95% non-condensing. Storage temperature is -20 to 150°F (-28.9 to 65.5°C). The unit draws a maximum supply current of 45 mA.

Deadband Configuration

The device supports fixed or adjustable deadbands selected via jumper:

  • Fixed Setting: Turns the relay ON at a level set by the Low potentiometer and OFF at 3% below that level.
  • Adjustable Setting: Allows flexible deadband adjustment using both High and Low potentiometers.

Configuration Options

The Series AAR is designed for modular expansion via an edge connector, allowing up to six units to be cascaded from a single connection. Additional boards can be connected if external power is jumpered to every sixth board. The unit features 90° pluggable screw terminal blocks compatible with wire sizes from 16 (1.31 mm²) to 26 AWG (0.129 mm²). Terminal block torque ratings are specified as 0.5 Nm minimum and 0.6 Nm maximum.

Available Accessories

The following accessories are offered for the Series AAR:

  • A/DO008 (Item #142583): Transient Voltage Suppressor, Bi-directional, 56VAC/DC, 1500W.
  • A/DRC 2.7 X 3.25 (Item #142624): DIN Rail Adapter Kit.
  • ENC1 (Item #102472): 20 Gauge Metal Enclosure, Designed to Hold Interfaces Products.

Housing and Approvals

The snaptrack housing is constructed from Polyvinyl Chloride (PVC) with a UL94 V-0 flammability rating. The product carries RoHS2 and WEEE approvals, while the manual also notes compliance with UL94 V-0.

Key Product Differences

The standard model is designated as AAR (Item #101785), described as an Analog to 2 Relay Outputs device. The series supports field calibration, and factory calibration is available upon request for an additional charge. Model numbering follows the format: AAR - Item #.
