Supported Applications
The Omega BB702 series is a portable, rugged bench-top blackbody calibration source designed to test and calibrate non-contact infrared temperature instruments. The unit features a built-in precision PID digital controller with temperature readout.
Operating Conditions & Performance
The target plate operates within a range of Ambient 10 to 215°C (ambient 20 to 420°F). Accuracy is specified as ±0.5°C, ±0.25% rdg (±0.9°F, ±0.25% rdg), with stability at ±0.1°C (±0.2°F). The target plate measures 63.5 mm (2.5") in diameter and has an emissivity of 0.95.
Internal control and reference sensors are Platinum RTD, class A, alpha = 0.00385. Warm-up time is 12 min from ambient to 204°C (400°F). The unit operates in ambient environmental conditions of 5 to 45°C (41 to 113°F) and humidity levels of 0 to 90% RH, non-condensing.
Configuration Options
The series is offered with two power supply configurations:
- BB702: 115 Vac, 50/60 Hz, 75 W (Domestic Models)
- BB702-230VAC: 230 Vac, 50/60 Hz, 75 W (European Models)
The unit includes an RS232 computer interface and a built-in RTD reference probe output. It features a tilt stand for benchtop operation.
Key Product Differences
Differences between models are defined by the voltage rating in the model number suffix:
- BB702: 115V configuration, range: ambient 10 to 215°C (ambient 20 to 420°F).
- BB702-230VAC: 230V configuration, range: ambient 10 to 215°C (ambient 20 to 420°F).
The series includes a NIST-traceable calibration certificate with three data points and carries an Installation Category II rating. Dimensions are 152 H x 305 W x 280 mm L (6 x 12 x 11") and weight is 7.2 kg (16 lb).
