Supported Applications

The Dwyer Series AVLV Low Air Velocity Transmitter measures air velocity or volumetric flow in imperial or metric units. The series is designed for quality-intensive environments, such as the pharmaceutical industry, where lower ranges and high accuracy are required. It operates with clean air and non-combustible, compatible gases.

Operating Conditions & Performance

The Series AVLV functions within an ambient temperature range of 32 to 122°F (0 to 50°C) and a humidity rating of 5 to 95% RH, non-condensing. Accuracy is available in two classes: ± (2% of reading + offset) or ± (1% of reading + offset), with the specific offset dependent on the selected velocity range.

  • Velocity Ranges: Field selectable full-scale ranges include 100, 200, 300, and 400 FPM (0.5, 1.0, 1.5, 2.0 m/s). The accuracy chart defines performance for velocity spans starting at 20 to 100 FPM (0.15 to 0.5 m/s) up through 20 to 400 FPM (0.15 to 2.0 m/s).
  • Accuracy Offsets: For the 20 to 100/200 FPM ranges, the offset is ± 0.04 m/s [7.9 FPM]. The 20 to 300 FPM range lists an offset of ± 0.05 m/s [9.8 FPM], and the 20 to 400 FPM range lists ± 0.06 m/s [11.8 FPM].
  • Response Time: Typical response time is 4 s (90%); it reduces to 1 s at constant temperature.
  • Enclosure Rating: NEMA 4X (IP66).

Configuration Options

The series supports simultaneous current and voltage outputs, configurable via local DIP switches. Models are available with or without an optional integral display.

  • Output Signals: 4-20 mA, 0-5 VDC, or 0-10 VDC (configurable). Communication options include BACnet MS/TP or Modbus® RTU/ASCII via RS-485.
  • Power Supply: 24 VDC ±20% or 24 VAC ±20%. Current consumption is 60 mA max.
  • Load Resistance: Current output supports 0 to 1100 Ω max; voltage output requires a minimum load resistance of 1 kΩ.
  • Housing & Mounting: Duct mount via duct mount flange (requires 0.750-0.938 in [20-24 mm] drilled hole). The probe version body measures 3-33/64 in [89.13 mm].
  • Electrical Entry: 1/2" NPS thread; accessory cable gland A-151 for 5 to 10 mm diameter cable.
  • Communication Configuration: Supported baud rates include 9600, 19200, 38400, 57600, 76800, and 115200 (optional). Units can be daisy-chained to access velocity, flow data, and air temperature.
  • Approvals: BTL, CE.

Configuration Options

  • Accuracy Models: 1% or 2% accuracy (selected at order).
  • Display: Optional integral 5 digit LCD display with housing cover and overlay.
  • Remote Tooling: Portable remote display tool, Model A-435-A.
  • Certification Options: Factory calibration certificate or NIST certificate available as options.

Key Product Differences

The Series AVLV is distinguished by accuracy class and communication capability. Model numbers follow the pattern AVLV - [Accuracy] - [Mounting] - [Output] - [Options].

  • Accuracy Codes: "-1" denotes ± (1% of reading + 0.06 m/s); "-2" denotes ± (2% of reading + 0.06 m/s).
  • Mounting Code: "D" indicates Duct mount.
  • Output Codes: "A1" provides Analog universal output; "B1" adds BACnet MS/TP communication; "M1" adds Modbus® RTU/ASCII communication.
  • Display Option: The suffix "-LCD" indicates the inclusion of an integral display. Field upgradeable displays are available as accessories (Model A-AVLV-LCD).
