Supported Applications
The Omega LVCN4300 Series capacitance level switches are designed for point-level detection of liquids and pastes. The series operates on both conductive and non-conductive media, including water, oils, corrosives, and other industrial applications. These remote probes function as flexible solutions where rugged construction is required without moving parts.
Operating Conditions & Performance
The LVCN4300 series sensors feature a 16 mm (⅝") diameter electrode with lengths ranging from 100 to 1800 mm (0.33 to 6') for water and 100 to 600 mm (0.33 to 2') for other materials. The standard operating temperature range is -10 to 120°C (-14 to 248°F) with aluminum diecast enclosures, while "-HT" units support up to 177°C (350°F). PTFE-tubed probes also operate at a maximum of 177°C (350°F).
Performance specifications include a sensitivity range of 0.1 to 5 pF and an output signal of 5A SPDT Relay (250 Vac maximum). The series is rated for a maximum pressure of 290 psi (20 bar) with IP40 protection class.
Power Supply Requirements
The switches require remote electronics from the LVCN400 Series, available in three power configurations:
- LVCN401: 24 Vdc ±10%
- LVCN402: 115 Vac (50/60 Hz)
- LVCN403: 230 Vac (50/60 Hz)
Current consumption is a maximum of 2 VA.
Configuration Options
The LVCN4321-Series offers configurable process connections, enclosure materials, rod lengths, and special service options to accommodate diverse installation needs. The series supports wetted parts made from 316 SS with optional PTFE probe tubing for aggressive or sticky mediums.
Process Connections
Available connection types include:
- ¾ NPT thread (Code 1)
- 1 NPT thread (Code 2)
- 1½ NPT thread (Code 3)
- 1.5" Tri-Grip™, sanitary (Code 4)
- 2" flange, ANSI, 15016 316 SS (Code 5)
Other connection options require consulting engineering.
Enclosure Options
- Glass filled Nylon with ½ NPT conduit with cable gland (Standard, Code 1)
- Aluminum die cast with ½ NPT conduit entry (Code 2)
- Aluminum die cast with cable gland entry (Code 3)
Rod Length and Special Options
The rod length is specified in inches, up to a maximum of 72" for water or 24" for other media. Additional options include:
- -SH(D): Sheath length [D] (inch) to render portion of probe inactive
- -HT: High temperature rating to 177°C (350°F)
- -PTFE: PTFE probe tubing
Key Product Differences
The series distinguishes between standard and high-temperature configurations. Standard units operate up to 120°C (-14 to 248°F) with aluminum diecast housings, while "-HT" suffix models extend the temperature capability to 177°C (350°F). The LVCN4300 series sensors are compact and weigh approximately 1 kg (2.2 lb) for a 24" length configuration.
Remote electronics units vary by input voltage: LVCN401 accepts DC power, while LVCN402 and LVCN403 accept AC line voltages of 115 Vac or 230 Vac respectively. All remote units measure approximately 83 H x 44 W x 111 D mm (3.25 x 1.75 x 4.37") and weigh approx. 227 g (0.5 lb).
