Supported Applications
The Omega OS768-LS Series is a non-contact infrared thermometer designed for temperature measurements across industrial and technical environments. The device combines dual laser targeting with an integrated thermocouple socket to support both remote scanning and contact-based readings. It includes memory functions to record up to 24 sets of data, along with mathematical modes such as MAX, MIN, DIF (difference), and AVG (average) for comparative analysis.
Operating Conditions & Performance
The series operates within an ambient temperature range of 0 to +50°C (32 to +122°F). Measurement capabilities are split between two distinct modes:
- Non-contact Infrared Scan function: Measures from 100 to +1800 °C (212 to +3272 °F) with a distance-to-spot ratio of 75:1.
- Thermocouple Probe Scan function: Supports K Type thermocouples ranging from -64 to +1400 °C (-83.2 to +2552 °F). A bead wire is included for measurements between -50 to +250 °C (-58 to +482 °F).
Accuracy specifications vary by mode: the infrared function provides ±2% of reading, while the thermocouple probe offers ±1% of reading or 1°C (1.8°F) whichever is greater when tested under Tamb=23±6°C. The device features a response time of 1 sec. (90%) and resolution of 0.1°C/0.1°F at -83.2 to 999.9(°C/°F), otherwise 1°C/1°F.
Configuration Options
The OS768-LS Series is configured with specific hardware and interface options:
- Housing & Dimensions: Overall dimensions are 204.14*179.19*58.40 mm (8.04×7.05×2.30 inch) with a weight of 355 grams(12.52 oz) including batteries.
- Power & Connectivity: Powered by AAA x 2 batteries, the unit includes a Mini USB connection for data transfer via enclosed software program.
- Emissivity Control: Default emissivity is set to 0.95 and is adjustable from 0.1 to 1 in steps of .01.
- User Interface Features: Includes a dual laser pointer for targeting, an LCD backlight for visibility, and automatic power-off functions (60 sec idle standard; 12 minutes in PRB mode).
The device carries CE approval and is manufactured under ISO 9001 Certified facilities in Stamford, CT and Manchester, UK. A warranty of 13 months from the date of purchase applies.
Key Product Differences
The OS768-LS Series distinguishes itself through its dual-mode architecture, allowing users to switch between non-contact infrared scanning for high-temperature surfaces (up to +1800 °C) and contact thermocouple measurements using the included K Type probe or bead wire. The series supports detailed memory storage that retains both temperature values and emissivity settings for each of the 24 recorded data points.

on the 64°C to 1800°C Infrared Thermometer Item# OS768-LS, is the high-low audible alarm set point adjustable? Is there an external output for the high-low alarm so we could control some selected function with that output?
Hi Nikolat
Thank you for the inquiry. Alarm points are adjustable. This device does not have any alarm relays for outputs.
Best regards
