Supported Applications
The Omega FTB100 Series comprises liquid turbine flow meters engineered for high-accuracy measurement of clean fluids with poor lubricating properties, such as water. These devices feature a shielded ball bearing design and deflector cones to stabilize the low-mass rotor, making them suitable for pulsating flow applications due to their rapid dynamic response.
Operating Conditions & Performance
The series delivers an accuracy of ±0.5% of reading with repeatability of ±0.1% of reading over the repeatable range. Standard NIST calibration is provided for water (viscosity = 1 cSt), with additional cost options available for other viscosity liquids ranging from 0.6 to 99 cSt and 100 to 299 cSt depending on meter size.
Process temperature limits span -268 to 232°C (-450 to 450°F), while ambient operating temperatures range from -40 to 85°C (-40 to 185°F). Maximum operating pressures vary by model, ranging from 2000 psig for the FTB-111 (3" NPT) up to 5000 psig for smaller models such as the FTB-101 through FTB-104. Linear flow ranges extend from 1.32 to 13.2 LPM (0.35 to 3.5 GPM) on the smallest model to 151 to 2460 LPM (40 to 650 GPM) on the largest.
Configuration Options
The FTB100 Series is available in multiple configurations defined by flow range, connection size, and signal conditioning options. Key configurable dimensions include:
- Process Connections: Standard NPT threads from ½" to 3" (FTB-101 through FTB-111). Optional MS flared and flanged styles are available.
- Wetted Materials: Body constructed of 304 stainless steel, rotor made of 17-4 PH steel, and ceramic bearings. Non-metallic bearing retainers are utilized for extended life.
- Signal Conditioning Options: Integral or remote signal conditioners (FLSC-C1-LIQ loop-powered; FLSC-C3-LIQ DC powered) provide outputs including 4 to 20 mA, 0 to 5 VDC, scaled frequency, pulse output, and amplified pulse.
- Hazardous Location Ratings: Enclosures for signal conditioners meet Class I, Div 1 & 2, Groups A, B, C & D; Class I, Zones 1 & 2, Groups IIB + H2 IIA; Class II, Div 1 & 2 Groups E, F & G; Class III. Ratings include NEMA 3, 4, 7(B, C, D) 9(E, F, G); Cenelec EEx d IIC IP66.
- Approvals: Units carry UL, CSA, FM Approved, ATEX Certified, CE, and RoHS certifications. ISO 9001 certification applies to manufacturing facilities in Stamford, CT and Manchester, UK.
Key Product Differences
The series distinguishes between the FTB-100 family (NPT fittings) and the FTB-200 family (37° flare fittings), though only NPT variants are currently enumerated in this bundle. Model numbers correspond to specific linear flow ranges for water; for example, the FTB-101 covers 1.32 to 13.2 LPM with a ½" MNPT fitting and 5000 psig rating, while the FTB-111 supports 151 to 2460 LPM with a 3" NPT fitting and 2000 psig rating.
Signal conditioner models differ in power requirements: FLSC-C1-LIQ operates on loop power (10 to 30 Vdc), whereas FLSC-C3-LIQ requires DC power (13 to 30 Vdc). The FTB-200 series utilizes MS flared fittings with specific thread sizes such as 3/4-16 UNF-3A and supports flow ranges from 0.35 to 3.5 GPM up to 15 to 225 GPM, with maximum operating pressures ranging from 1750 psi to 5000 psi.

I need to connect the FTB-102 with a PLC. Can this flowmeter generate a 4-20mA or a DC signal or even a digital pulse output which can be read on the controller to monitor flow through the meter?
Thank you for your inquiring about this this flow meter. The FTB-100 series turbine flow meter self generates a sinusoidal wave and will need an amplifier such as the FLSC-AMP to amplify to a square pulse.

Are these good for zone 0?
Thank you for your inquiry in regard to the turbine flow meter. The FTB-100 series coupled with the signal conditioner identified in the data sheet is ATEX rated, without it, unfortunately, no.

Do any of the pins connect with the body of the flow meter or housing the signal conditioner sits in?
Thank you for your inquiry about this flow meter. The turbine flow meter and signal conditioner are recommended to be purchased as a 'SYS' or system and they are scaled together to be used when received.

If the system with the signal conditioner is rated for Zone 0, why does the datasheet say the signal conditioner is only rated for Zone 1 and 2? Thanks,

Viscosity affects the reading? I.e. a sensor calibrated for water will have same readings when used for oil with viscosity between 25 to 75 cSt (viscosity changing by oil temperature) ?
Thank you for your inquiry about the turbine flow meter. Yes, the viscosity affects the reading and the turbine flow meter is calibrated for water and if you have a viscous liquid to measure, then, it will need to be specifically calibrated for that liquid for an additional cost as noted on the data sheet. Please note, in the event the temperature changes so does the viscosity and therefore, the calibration will be affected as a result. Highly recommend a positive displacement flow meter such as the FPD3000 series.

Do any of the electrical connections have an electrical connection with the housing? Is it isolated? I'm using with a piece of equipment that requires an SELV power supply and equipment. The housing will be PE grounded.
The self powered flow meter does not come with an electrical housing. The body of the flow meter needs to be grounded if used in a noisy environment.

If the flow meter with the signal conditioner is good for Zone 0 as is claimed be the previous answer, why does the data sheet say the signal conditioner only good for Zone 1 and Zone 2?
According to our specifications the signal conditioner is not rated for Zone 0. Only good for zone 1 and 2.
