Supported Applications

The Omega SV240 through SV270 Series comprises 3-way and 4-way solenoid valves designed for general-purpose, switchable normally open/closed (NO/NC), quick exhaust, and directional control applications. These direct-acting or pilot-operated valves are engineered for use in mobile equipment, gas sampling systems, compressors, ball valve actuators, cylinders, dispensing operations, laundry equipment, and machine tool equipment.

Operating Conditions & Performance

The series operates within an ambient temperature range of -9 to 50°C (15 to 122°F). Valves feature a rugged NEMA 4 (IP65) enclosure rating, allowing them to mount in any direction on piping. The maximum static pressure is rated at 5 times the maximum differential pressure specified for each model.

Performance specifications vary by model:

• SV241 and SV242 (3-Way): Direct-acting valves with response times of 10 ms open/10 ms close. Maximum differential pressures are 150 psid for SV241 and 100 psid for SV242.
• SV251 (3-Way Multipurpose): Direct-acting with user-selectable NO/NC operation, offering a response time of 10 ms open/10 ms close at a maximum differential pressure of 100 psid.
• SV261 (Quick Exhaust): Pilot-operated valve requiring a minimum differential pressure of 2 psid and a maximum of 100 psid. Response times are 15 ms open and 45 ms close.
• SV271 (4-Way Directional Control): Pilot-operated with response times ranging from 10 to 30 ms for both opening and closing, requiring a minimum differential pressure of 15 psid up to a maximum of 150 psid.

The standard power supply is 120 Vac coils (10 W) at 50 to 60 Hz. Some models are available with 24 Vdc coils, subject to specific ordering requirements and without UL approval for that voltage configuration.

Configuration Options

The series supports various configurations defined by model number, fitting size, orifice diameter, flow coefficient (Cv), seal material, differential pressure limits, temperature ratings, and response times. Key configurable attributes include:

• Housing Materials: Brass bodies are standard for SV241, SV242, SV251, and SV261. The SV271 features an aluminum body.
• Wetted Parts: Standard materials include brass, stainless steel, copper, and seals. Specific models incorporate additional wetted parts: Delrin for SV241; Aluminum, Delrin, stainless steel, copper, and seal for SV271.
• Process Connections: NPT fittings are available in sizes including 1/8" (SV271) and 1/4" (SV241-SV261).
• Seal Materials: FKM seals are used for SV241, SV242, and SV251. Buna-N seals are specified for SV261 and SV271.
• Coil Options: Replacement coils are available as accessories: SVCOIL-110AC (110 Vac), SVCOIL-220AC (220 Vac), and SVCOIL-24VDC (24 Vdc).

Key Product Differences

The series distinguishes models by valve function, operation type, and port configuration:

• Solenoide Valve Types: SV241 and SV242 are 3-way normally closed valves. SV251 is a 3-way multipurpose valve with user-selectable NO/NC functionality. SV261 serves as a quick exhaust valve, while SV271 functions as a 4-way directional control valve.
• Operation Mechanism: Models SV241, SV242, and SV251 are direct-acting. Models SV261 and SV271 are pilot-operated.
• Port Markings: 3-way valves (SV241/SV242) utilize port markings of 1 = Pressure, 2 = Cylinder, 3 = Exhaust; the quick exhaust valve SV261 adds a Pilot Exhaust marking. The 4-way valve SV271 uses ports marked 1 = Pressure, 2 = Cylinder A, 3 = Exhaust A, 4 = Cylinder B, and 5 = Exhaust B.
