Supported Applications

The Omega OS310-Series is a high-performance, handheld infrared thermometer designed for non-contact temperature measurement of metals, ceramics, and graphite. The series supports measurements across the range of -50 to 1650°C (-58 to 3002°F). It features an adjustable emissivity setting (0.10 to 1.00) to accommodate various surface materials.

Documented material applications include:

  • Metallic surfaces: Aluminum, Brass, Copper, Iron, Lead, Steel
  • Ceramics and minerals: Basalt, Brick, Carbon, Ceramic, Concrete, Limestone, Sand
  • Organic and composite materials: Asbestos, Asphalt, Paint, Paper, Plastic, Rubber, Textiles, Wood
  • Liquids and other media: Oil, Water, Frozen Food, Hot food, Ice, Skin, Snow

Operating Conditions & Performance

The OS310-Series operates within an ambient temperature range of 0 - 40°C (32 - 104°F) and relative humidity from 10% to 95% non-condensing. Storage is supported between -20 - 50°C (-4 - 122°F). The device utilizes a spectral response of 8 – 14 µm with a field of view ratio of 50:1.

Performance specifications are defined by temperature range:

  • -50 to 0°C (-58 to 32°F): Accuracy ±3°C (±5°F)
  • 0 to 1650°C (32 to 3002°F): Accuracy ±1.5% or 1.5°C (±2.7°F), whichever is better

The thermometer provides a resolution of 0.1°C or 0.1°F and achieves response times less than 250 ms. Repeatability is specified as less than 1/3 of basic error.

Configuration Options

The series includes the OS-310-501 model, a handheld unit powered by an included 9V battery. The device features a backlit LCD display that shows current temperature as well as minimum, maximum, average, and differential temperatures.

  • Target Aiming: Single laser dot for target location
  • Emissivity Adjustment: Configurable from 0.1 to 1.0 (or 0.10 to 1.00)
  • Alarm Settings: Available on the unit
  • Housing and Weight: Dimensions of 5.6 x 7.9 x 2.4 in (141 x 200 x 60 mm); weight is 270 g (9.5 oz) including battery

The unit ships complete with a hard case and manual.

Key Product Differences

The OS310-Series is represented by the single model number OS-310-501, described as a Handheld Infrared Thermometer with a 50:1 Field of View covering -50 to 1650°C. No alternative housings, output signal types, or sensor element variations are documented for this series.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Accuracy lacking This device has a large range in temperature, and I like the simplicity of use. It is sturdy and a quality device, But the accuracy is not as displayed. I trust it to 20-30 degrees Manufacturer needs to work on accuracy. I am using it to measure the temperature of a Baily Gas Kiln and the chimney.

Any way to get the default temp to read in Fahrenheit not Celsius on this model? It keeps restarting in Celsius..

Asked by: Drewzilla
Hi Drewzilla, Follow up from previous question on F/C selection; The Fahrenheit selection will not remain active through power cycle. It will still display Celsius , you need to press C/F key to switch it . Best regards Omega
