Supported Applications
The Omega SV170 Series consists of OMEGA-FLO® 2-Way, Normally Closed (NC), pilot-operated solenoid valves constructed from lead-free 316 stainless steel. These internally piloted valves are designed for use with hot water and steam, as well as many aggressive liquids and gases.
Operating Conditions & Performance
The series operates within a maximum process temperature range of -10 to 138°C (14 to 280°F) when equipped with FKM O-ring seals. Ambient operating temperatures are coil dependent, requiring reference to specific coil ratings.
- Response Time: Opening time is approximately 100 to 200 ms; closing time ranges from approximately 200 to 1200 ms.
- Cycling Rate: Approximately 60 cpm with a continuous (100%) duty cycle.
- Voltage Tolerance: ±10% AC, ±5% DC.
Maximum operating pressure differential (M.O.P.D.) varies by model and coil type. For SV171 through SV173 and SV175/SV176, the M.O.P.D. is 200 psi for AC coils; DC ratings are 85 psi for SV171–SV173 and 45 psi for SV174. Models SV175 and SV176 have a 0 psi differential rating for DC operation.
Configuration Options
The series offers configurable process connections, coil power ratings, and electrical interfaces to accommodate diverse installation requirements.
- Process Connections: Available in Pipe Size NPT sizes of ⅜", ½", ¾", 1", 1¼", and 1½". Orifice sizes range from ⅜" on the SV171 to 1⅝" on the SV175/SV176.
- Coil Options: Standard coils include 8 W AC units (up to 1") and 14 W DC units (on larger units). Optional coil wattages of 12 W are available for select models. Voltage options span 12 Vdc, 24 Vdc/AC, 110–120 Vac, and 220–240 Vac.
- Electrical Connections: Units include a strain-relief connector; an optional SV-CC ½" conduit plug is available. Replacement cable grip connectors (SV-CGC) are offered as accessories.
Housing materials for the coil molding include Black Polyphenylenesulphide (Class H) or Black Epoxy Resin (Class H), with a standard NEMA 4 enclosure rating.
Key Product Differences
The SV170 Series is differentiated by model number, which corresponds to pipe size and flow capacity. Models SV171 through SV176 cover the full range of available orifice sizes and Cv Flow Factors from 2.8 (SV171) to 23.4 (SV176).
- Standard Coil Configuration: Valves up to 1" (SV171–SV174) feature standard 8 W AC coils, while valves larger than 1" (SV175/SV176) utilize standard 14 W DC coils.
- Coil Temperature Classes: Standard Class F coils operate up to 154°C (310°F). Higher temperature Class H options are available for specific voltages, rated up to 182°C (360°F).
Materials of construction include a 316 SS body, Stainless steel 300 armature tube and spring, Stainless steel 400 fixed core and plunger, and a gold-plated copper shading ring.

Use caution when ordering, error on order form.
When deciding which type of coil to order after selecting pipe size use extreme caution when consulting the "Data Sheet" PDF shown on the product page for order specifications. For instance when ordering the SV176 (1.5" size) the PDF data sheet mistakes that "†† 14 W DC coils are standard on valves larger than 1"." This is incorrect, the standard coils are 14 W AC. So if you want DC coils you have order them (# SV14COIL-24DC) separately.
CAREFULLY INSPECT THE COIL VOLTAGE STICKER WHEN YOU RECEIVE THEM TO CONFIRM CORRECT VOLTAGE!
