Supported Applications

The Omega GT General Purpose Liquid-In-Glass Thermometers are designed for temperature measurement in chemical laboratories, universities, scientific institutions, food and beverage processing, petrochemical laboratories, the pharmaceutical industry, medical industry, manufacturers, dairies, breweries, and distilleries. These thermometers feature red organic liquid fill and are individually serialized with a Statement of Accuracy.

Operating Conditions & Performance

The series encompasses measurement ranges from -100/50°C to 20/500°F across various model configurations. Immersion requirements vary by design, offering either Total immersion or Partial immersion (specified as 50 mm / 2" for the 7.9" length models and 76 mm / 3" for the 12" and 14" length models). Accuracy is expressed in scale divisions with conditional tolerances; examples include "0.5, 1 below 0 and above 70°C," "1, 1.5 above 110, 2 above 200°C," and "1.5, 3 below -35°C." The thermometers are calibrated to meet the requirements of ANSI/SAMA Z236.1-1983, ASTM, NIST, DAkkS, and/or equivalent standards.

Configuration Options

The series is available in three overall lengths: 200 mm (7.9"), 300 mm (12"), and 350 mm (14"). Models are distinguished by back color, immersion type, scale divisions, traceability options, and specific accuracy profiles.

  • Back Color: Yellow Back or White Back
  • Immersion Type: Total Immersion or Partial Immersion (50 mm / 2" or 76 mm / 3")
  • Scale Divisions: Available in 0.5, 1, and 2 divisions depending on the model range.
  • Traceability Options:
    • NIST traceable (White Back models)
    • DAkkS traceable with multi-language Statement of Accuracy (English, French, German, Italian, Portuguese, Spanish) for specific Yellow and White Back models
    • Dual NIST and DAkkS traceability available on select configurations
  • Packaging: Individually packaged in safety packaging to prevent breakage.

Key Product Differences

Variants within the GT series are differentiated by their traceability status and accuracy specifications. Yellow Back models (e.g., GT-30591, GT-30507) generally feature DAkkS traceability with specific multi-part accuracy ratings such as "0.5, 1 below 0 and above 70°C." White Back models are further categorized by their NIST traceability status; some include both NIST and DAkkS statements (e.g., GT-20591), while others offer only NIST or neither depending on the specific model number. Accuracy tolerances increase at temperature extremes, with specifications such as "1.5 above 110°C" or "3 below -35°C" applied to ranges extending beyond standard limits.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Long Thermometer in Degrees F I am quite happy with the liquid thermometer showing temperature in degrees F for checking my various digital indoor/outdoor thermometers, which do not always agree. It provided an exactly correct reading at 32 degrees F in an ice water bath.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Hard to read The liquid column is very narrow and the angle of viewing is pretty small.

When two accuracy figures are listed 0.5C/1.0C, what does that mean exactly?

Asked by: ponies
Thank you for your question. The accuracy is 0.5°C for temperatures above 0°C and 1.0°C below 0°C
