Supported Applications

The Dwyer Series 32B, along with the related 4B, 8B, and 16B models, comprises microprocessor-based temperature and process loop controllers designed for mounting in enclosed panels. These units provide digital indication of Process Value (PV) and Set Point (SV) via dual LED displays to manage heating or cooling processes. The series supports universal input configurations including thermocouples, RTDs, DC voltages, and DC currents.

Documented control methods include PID, ON/OFF, manual, and programmable Ramp/Soak profiles. Communication is available via RS-485 using the Modbus ASCII or RTU protocol for integration with supervisory systems.

Operating Conditions & Performance

The controllers operate within an ambient temperature range of 32 to 122°F (0 to 50°C) and a storage temperature range of -4 to 150°F (-20 to 65°C). The front panel carries an IP56 rating. Power consumption is rated at less than 5VA.

Measurement accuracy is specified as ±0.25% span, ±1 least significant digit. Sampling frequency varies by input type: analog inputs update every 0.15 seconds, while thermocouple or platinum resistance inputs update every 0.4 seconds. The series supports a wide array of temperature ranges depending on the selected sensor:

Dual control outputs are configurable. Output types include:

• Relay: SPST rated at 3 A @ 250 VAC resistive for the 32B model.
• Voltage Pulse: 14 VDC (max. 40 mA).
• Current Output: 4-20 mA with a load resistance requirement of less than 600 Ω.

The Series 32B is distinguished from the larger family members by its physical footprint. While all models share similar input capabilities, output ratings differ by housing size:
