Supported Applications
The Omega LVR500 Series is a general-purpose continuous float level transmitter designed for relatively clean liquids, including water, diluted chemicals, and light-weight oils. The series provides proportional liquid level measurement in tanks or vessels where the signal can be connected to devices accepting loop-powered 4-20 mA signals, such as PLCs, SCADA systems, DCS units, displays, or controllers. Typical application examples documented for this series include boilers and process vessels.
Operating Conditions & Performance
The LVR500 Series operates within a process temperature range of -40°C to 85°C (-40°F to 185°F) with an ambient operating temperature of -40 to 60°C (-40 to 140°F). The transmitter is rated for pressures up to 200 psi (13.8 bar) and requires a minimum specific gravity of 0.55 in the media. Accuracy is specified as 0.25% span in water, with an orientation tolerance of +/- 20° from vertical.
Electrical performance includes a loop-powered 4-20 mA output signal powered by a supply voltage between 10 to 30 VDC. The maximum load resistance is 600 Ohms @ 24 VDC. Calibration is fixed at the factory with no user adjustment.
Configuration Options
The series offers configurable stem lengths ranging from 16" (0.406m) to 48" (1.219m), resulting in sensing ranges that vary by model number due to top and bottom dead bands. The enclosure is constructed of Polypropylene (PP, UL94VO) with a NEMA 4X (IP65) rating. Wetted materials include a 316 SS guide and float.
Key configuration parameters available across the series include:
- Stem Lengths & Models: LVR516 (16"), LVR524 (24"), LVR532 (32"), LVR536 (36"), LVR542 (42"), and LVR548 (48").
- Process Connection: 2" NPT.
- Electrical Connection: Single, ½" NPT conduit entrance with a terminal strip inside the junction box.
- Sensing Dimensions: Float diameter is 2.1", and stem diameter is 0.5" OD.
The series supports optional accessories including an unregulated 24 Vdc power supply (PSU-93), a ⅛ DIN panel meter with 24 Vdc excitation (DPi8), and a 30.5 m (100') spool of 4 conductor wire (TX4-100).
Key Product Differences
Variation within the LVR500 Series is defined by stem length, which directly determines the measurement range and model number. The sensing length for each variant is shorter than the total stem length due to dead bands at the top and bottom of the travel.
- LVR516: 41 cm (16") range
- LVR524: 61 cm (24") range
- LVR532: 81 cm (32") range
- LVR536: 91 cm (36") range
- LVR542: 107 cm (42") range
- LVR548: 122 cm (48") range
All models share the same electrical output, enclosure rating, and wetted material specifications. The series is not designed for operation when fully immersed; the enclosure must remain out of contact with application media under normal conditions.
