Supported Applications
The Omega LCMCD series consists of environmentally protected S-beam load cells designed for tension and compression applications. These metric models are engineered to measure force across a range from 0-10 kgf to 0-5,000 kgf (equivalent to 0-25 lb to 0-20,000 lb). The series is intended for use in test and measurement equipment where stainless steel construction provides durability. Each unit includes a calibration certificate with NIST-traceable data.
Operating Conditions & Performance
The LCMCD load cells operate within an ambient temperature range of -18 to 66°C (0 to 150°F), which also defines the compensated temperature span. The series features a bridge resistance of 350 Ω nominal and requires an excitation voltage of 10 Vdc, with a maximum limit of 15 Vdc. Output signal is specified as 3.0 mV/V ±0.25%. Performance characteristics include linearity of 0.03% FS, repeatability of 0.01% FS, and hysteresis of ±0.05% FS. Zero balance is rated at 1% FS, with creep in 20 minutes limited to 0.03% FS.
Thermal effects are documented as zero: 0.0027% FS/°C and span: 0.0015% rdg/°C. The maximum load ratings allow for a safe limit of 150% and an ultimate limit of 300%. Environmental protection is provided by an IP67 enclosure rating.
Configuration Options
The series offers configurable capacities, process connections, and accessory options to accommodate specific installation requirements. The LCMCD metric models utilize M-series threads on both ends (A threads), with thread sizes varying by capacity from M8 x 1.25-6H up to M20 x 1.5-6H.
- Measurement Range: Capacities span from 10 kgf to 5,000 kgf (22 lb to 11,020 lb).
- Housing Material: Constructed of 17-4 PH stainless steel.
- Cable Connection: Includes a 6 m (20') 4-conductor shielded 22-gage wire PVC cable.
- Approvals: RoHS compliant; includes NIST Standard calibration certificate and 59 kΩ shunt data.
Optional accessories include load button models (LBC-014, LBC-038, LBC-012, LBC-034, LBC-100, MLBC-M8, MLBC-M12, MLBC-M20) and rod end models (REC-014M, REC-038M, REC-012M, REC-034M, REC-100M, REC-114M, MREC-M8M, MREC-M12M, MREC-M20M). Rod ends are sold separately.
Key Product Differences
The LCMCD series is distinguished from the LCDC standard models by its metric capacity ratings and thread specifications. While both families share identical performance metrics (linearity, hysteresis, repeatability) and construction materials, the model numbering reflects the unit system: LCDC denotes pound capacities with UNF threads, whereas LCMCD denotes kilogram-force capacities with M-series metric threads.
Specific dimensional variations occur across capacity ranges. For example, the 10 kgf (22 lb) to 50 kgf (110 lb) models utilize M8 x 1.25-6H threads and measure approximately 64 mm in height, while higher capacities up to 5,000 kgf employ larger thread sizes such as M20 x 1.5-6H with increased overall dimensions.
