Supported Applications

The Omega PX176 series consists of amplified voltage output pressure transducers designed for absolute and sealed gauge pressure measurement. These units feature a waterproof case intended for use in harsh environments where moisture protection is required.

Operating Conditions & Performance

PX176 transducers utilize piezoresistive sensing on a bending beam architecture to deliver an accuracy of ±1.0% full scale, which includes linearity (±0.5% FS) and hysteresis (±0.25% FS). The operating temperature range spans -55 to 105°C (-67 to 221°F), with a compensated temperature range of 0 to 85°C (32 to 185°F).

Pressure ratings vary by full scale: proof pressure is rated at 2x full scale, increasing to 1.5x over 200 psi. Burst pressure limits are defined as 20x full scale generally; for ranges between 50 and 200 psi, the limit is 10x full scale, while ranges of 500 psi and up have a burst rating of 5x full scale.

Performance Specifications

  • Output Signal: 1 to 6 Vdc (Zero Balance: ±1% FS; Span Tolerance: 5 ±0.1 Vdc)
  • Excitation Voltage: 9 to 20 Vdc at 15 mA with polarity protection
  • Input Resistance: 2 MΩ at 25 Vdc
  • Response Time: 50 Hz
  • Thermal Effects: Zero and Sensitivity effects are ±0.02% rdg/°C (±0.01% rdg/°F)

Configuration Options

The series supports a broad envelope of pressure ranges for both absolute (psia) and sealed gauge (psis) applications, alongside metric bar options.

Available Pressure Ranges

  • Absolute (psia): 0 to 15 psia through 0 to 200 psia
  • Sealed Gauge (psis): 0 to 100 psis, 0 to 200 psis, 0 to 500 psis, 0 to 1000 psis, and 0 to 3000 psis
  • Metric (bar): Ranges include 0-1.0 bar through 0-207 bar equivalents

Housing & Connections

  • Process Connection: Standard 1/8-27 NPT; metric thread adaptors are available.
  • Wetted Materials: Brazed assembly of 300 Series SS (silver, copper, nickel, cadmium brazed).
  • Housing Material: 300 Series SS with a waterproof case design.
  • Electrical Connection: Cable style featuring 900 mm (36") 3-lead shielded PVC pigtail leads.

Key Product Differences

The PX176 series is distinguished by its voltage output configuration and waterproof housing. Model numbers follow the format PX176-<RANGE>5V, where the range code indicates pressure type (A for absolute, S for sealed) and magnitude.

Accessories & Options

To mitigate fluid hammer and surges which can damage transducers, specific pressure snubbers are offered as separate accessories:

  • PS-8D: For oils 225 to 500 SSU (10 to 50 SAE)
  • PS-8E: For water and light oils 30 to 225 SSU
  • PS-8G: For air, steam, and gases
