Supported Applications
The Series RHP-E/N Wall Mount Humidity/Temperature/Dew Point Transmitter is a versatile room transmitter with a well-vented housing that improves measurement accuracy. It measures humidity and dew point with a capacitive polymer sensor and temperature with either a thermistor, an RTD, or a solid-state band-gap sensor, combining several room measurements in one device to reduce installation cost and inventory.
Typical uses include building balancing and LEED validation, air economizer control, room comfort monitoring, and greenhouse monitoring. An optional LCD display shows readings locally, and a remote display is available for installations where the transmitter is not easily seen. Disconnect the power supply before installation or maintenance, and use electrostatic-discharge precautions during handling because the sensor is particularly sensitive to electric shock; avoid locations with severe shock or vibration, excessive moisture, or corrosive fumes.
Operating Conditions & Performance
Relative humidity is measured over 0 to 100% RH. Temperature is measured over -40 to 140°F (-40 to 60°C) for thermistor and RTD sensors and -20 to 140°F (-28.9 to 60°C) for the solid-state band-gap (analog) sensors. Dew point is provided over field-selectable ranges of -20 to 140°F (-28.9 to 60°C), 0 to 100°F (-17.8 to 37.8°C), 40 to 90°F (4.4 to 32.3°C), and -4 to 140°F (-20 to 60°C).
Relative humidity accuracy depends on grade: RHP-2XXX models are ±2% (10 to 90% RH @ 25°C), RHP-3XXX models are ±3% (20 to 80% RH @ 25°C), and RHP-5XXX models are ±5% (20 to 80% RH @ 25°C). Temperature accuracy is ±0.36°F @ 77°F (±0.2°C @ 25°C) with a thermistor, ±0.54°F @ 32°F (±0.3°C @ 0°C) for a DIN Class B RTD, and ±0.9°F @ 77°F (±0.3°C @ 25°C) for the analog output. Hysteresis is ±0.8%, repeatability is ±0.1% typical, and drift is less than 0.25% RH per year. Resolution is 1% RH, 0.1°F (0.1°C) for temperature, and 1°F (1°C) for dew point, with an 8 s response time.
Outputs are switch-selectable and provide two channels for humidity and solid-state temperature models. The 4-20 mA loop-powered outputs deliver 4-20 mA with switch-selectable normal or reverse output, while the voltage outputs deliver 5 mA max with switch-selectable 0-10 V/2-10 V or 0-5 V/1-5 V. Power follows the output type: 10-35 VDC for the 4-20 mA loop-powered outputs and 15-35 VDC or 15-29 VAC for the voltage outputs.
The housing is polycarbonate — white on the European style and warm gray on the North American style — and carries an IP20 rating. The North American style measures 4.50 in (114.30 mm) high, 2.80 in (71.12 mm) wide, and 1.10 in (27.96 mm) deep, while the European style measures 3.65 in (92.72 mm) by 3.56 in (90.42 mm) by 1.08 in (27.33 mm). Wiring lands on a screw terminal block, and the transmitter is CE marked and rated for storage over -40 to 176°F (-40 to 80°C).
Configuration Options
Every model follows the pattern RHP - Accuracy - Mounting Type - RH Output - Temperature Sensor/Output - Options, so a single code sets several capabilities:
- Accuracy: the leading digit selects ±2%, ±3%, or ±5% relative-humidity accuracy.
- Mounting type: E is a European wall mount and N is a North American wall mount, each with its own housing dimensions and color.
- RH output: code 4 provides a combined 4-20 mA / 0-10 V humidity output.
- Temperature sensor/output: code 0 is none, code 4 is a combined 4-20 mA / 0-10 V output, and letter codes select a passive sensor — A and B are 10K Ω thermistors (Dwyer curves A and B), C is a 3K Ω curve-C thermistor, D is a 100 Ω RTD, E is a 1K Ω RTD, and F is a 20K Ω thermistor.
- Options: the -LCD option adds the local display.
