Supported Applications

The Omega FTB380 Series consists of aluminum turbine flowmeters designed to measure fuel and other fluids in one direction. The series is Factory Mutual (FM) Approved for Class 1, Division 1 hazardous environments when configured with display electronics and without accessories. These meters are intended for use with fuels or fluids having a viscosity of 1 cSt; models equipped with displays can be used for fluids up to 100 cSt provided field calibration is performed.

Operating Conditions & Performance

The FTB380 Series operates within an ambient temperature range of -10 to 60°C (14 to 140°F) and a process temperature range of -40 to 121°C (-40 to 250°F). The maximum pressure rating is 300 psig (21 bar).

Performance specifications vary by model size:

  • Accuracy: ±5% rdg or ±1.5% rdg.
  • Repeatability: ±1% or ±0.2%.

The series supports three primary flow ranges: 0.3 to 3 GPM (1 to 11 LPM), 3 to 50 GPM (11 to 190 LPM), and 30 to 300 GPM (114 to 1135 LPM). To maintain accuracy, the series requires specific strainer sizes based on flow range: a 55 mesh filter for low-flow models (A109GMA025NA1) and a 28 mesh filter for mid-range and high-flow models.

Configuration Options

The series is available in two physical sizes with corresponding process connections:

  • FTB381, FTB383 (1" FNPT): Dimensions are 6.3 cm height x 5.1 cm width x 10.1 cm length (2.5" H x 2.0" W x 4.0" L).
  • FTB385 (2" FNPT): Dimensions are 11.4 cm height x 7.6 cm width x 15.2 cm length (4.25" H x 3.0" W x 6.0" L).

Housing and Wetted Materials: The housing is aluminum. Internal wetted components include ceramic journal bearings (96% alumina), a tungsten carbide shaft, Nylor rotor and supports, and 316 SS retaining rings.

Electronics and Output Options:

  • With Display: Features a large 6-digit LCD with two-point floating decimal for totals from .01 to 999,999. The display indicates flow rate, batch total, and cumulative total. It is powered by replaceable lithium batteries providing up to 4000 hours of use.
  • Without Display: Models with the "-ND" suffix are available without on-board electronics. These require an optional accessory module (FLSC790-P-ND) for a pulse output, which provides an open collector current sinking square wave signal operating on 9 to 35 Vdc via a 3-wire connection.

Approvals and Certifications: The series carries CE, FM Approved (Class 1, Div. 1 for hazardous environments), RoHS, and ISO certifications (ISO 9001 in Stamford, CT; ISO 9002 in Manchester, UK).

Key Product Differences

The FTB380 Series is differentiated by flow range capability, display configuration, and process connection size:

  • A1Q9GMA025NA1 / A1XXXXA025NB1 (Low Flow): 1" FNPT; Range 0.3 to 3 GPM (1 to 11 LPM); Typical K-Factor 2200 Pul/Gal.
  • A1Q9GMA100NA1 / A1XXXXA100NB1 (Mid-Range): 1" FNPT; Range 3 to 50 GPM (11 to 190 LPM); Typical K-Factor 730 Pul/Gal.
  • A1Q9GMA200NA2 / A1XXXXA200NB2 (High Flow): 2" FNPT; Range 30 to 300 GPM (114 to 1135 LPM); Typical K-Factor 72 Pul/Gal.

Suffix "-NA" indicates models with display electronics, while suffix "-NB" denotes units without displays. BSPP thread options are available by adding the "-BSPP" designation to the model number at no additional cost.
