Supported Applications

The Dwyer Series TFP-LP Liquid Turbine Flow Meters are designed for industrial, commercial, and laboratory flow applications. These meters utilize a turbine wheel and electro-optical detection to convert liquid flow rates into linear output signals suitable for recording and data logging. The series is intended for use with clean liquids compatible with the specified wetted materials.

Every unit includes a calibration certificate detailing results obtained during factory calibration using deionized water as the reference media. Users should note that flowing liquids with different specific gravities or viscosities may affect the calibration. Additionally, if the liquid contains particles larger than 25 microns, a filter (25 microns or less) must be installed upstream of the unit.

Operating Conditions & Performance

The Series TFP-LP operates within a process temperature range of 41 to 131°F (5 to 55°C). The meters are rated for pressures up to 100 psig (6.8 bar) and feature an enclosure rating of IP10 (NEMA 1).

Performance specifications include:

  • Accuracy: ±1% of full-scale
  • Repeatability: ±0.2% of full-scale
  • Power Supply: 11.5 to 15 VDC
  • Load Resistance: Minimum 2.5 kΩ load for the analog output

The pressure drop across the meter varies with flow rate; at 100% of rated flow, the differential pressure is approximately 10 psid (0.7 Bar), while lower percentages show negligible drops.

Measurement Ranges and Models

  • TFP-LP03: .21 to 1.6 GPH (.013 to .1 LPM)
  • TFP-LP04: .32 to 3.2 GPH (.02 to .2 LPM)
  • TFP-LP05: .79 to 7.9 GPH (.05 to .5 LPM)
  • TFP-LP06: 1.6 to 16 GPH (.1 to 1 LPM)
  • TFP-LP07: 3.2 to 32 GPH (.2 to 2 LPM)
  • TFP-LP08: 7.9 to 79 GPH (.5 to 5 LPM)
  • TFP-LP09: 16 to 160 GPH (1 to 10 LPM)

Configuration Options

The series offers configurable process connections and output options tailored to specific flow ranges. The housing is constructed from PPS, with wetted parts including acetal, sapphire, glass, epoxy, and fluoroelastomer.

  • Process Connections: Compression fittings vary by model; TFP-LP03 uses 1/8" OD tubing, while models TFP-LP04 through TFP-LP07 use 1/4" OD. Models TFP-LP08 and TFP-LP09 utilize 3/8" OD connections.
  • Output Signals: Available as a linear 0 to 5 VDC analog output or a pulse signal (7.5 VDC peak buffered square wave).
  • Electrical Connection: Four-pin power and signal connector; requires an external power adapter or mating cable assembly for operation.

Dimensions vary by model, with overall length "A" ranging from 3-9/16 in to 3-27/32 in. The unit weight is approximately 0.19 lb (85 g).

Key Product Differences

The primary distinction between models within the Series TFP-LP is the flow range and corresponding process connection size, which dictates the physical dimensions of the meter body.

  • Low Flow Models (TFP-LP03 to TFP-LP07): Designed for ranges up to 32 GPH (.2 to 2 LPM), these units generally feature smaller compression fittings and shorter overall lengths compared to higher flow models.
  • High Flow Models (TFP-LP08, TFP-LP09): Accommodate flows from 7.9 up to 160 GPH (.5 to 10 LPM) with larger 3/8" OD connections and increased overall length.

Accessories are available to support installation, including the A-454 (115 VAC Power Adapter), A-455 (230 VAC Power Adapter), and A-456 (36" Mating Cable with Spliced Leads). The series carries CE certification.
