Supported Applications

The Dwyer Series SC1 Process/Temperature Alarm Switch Module functions as an on-off or limit switch for monitoring process signals. The series is designed to accept selectable inputs including voltage, current, thermocouple types (J, K, R, S, T, E), and RTD sensors (Pt1000). Each unit features two Form C relays that can operate independently or be logically connected as a DPDT output for alarm notification.

Operating Conditions & Performance

The Series SC1 operates within an ambient temperature range of 32 to 131°F (0 to 55°C) and supports storage temperatures from -40 to 176°F (-40 to 80°C). The module provides electrical isolation of 1500V rms between outputs, input, and power. Performance specifications include a drift of ±0.02%/°C typical and ±0.05%/°C maximum. Set points are adjustable from 0 to 100% of span with an adjustable deadband ranging from 0.25% to 100% of span.

Input Excitation Currents

The series provides specific excitation currents for various sensor types:

  • Cu10 Ω: 5 mA
  • Pt100 Ω, Ni100 Ω, Ni120 Ω: 500 μA
  • Pt500 Ω, NiFe1000 Ω: 100 μA
  • Pt1000 Ω: 50 μA

Input Impedance and Protection

The SC1090 model presents an input impedance of 1 MΩ for voltage inputs and 10 Ω for current inputs. The SC1290 model has a 3 MΩ input impedance. Features include selectable sensor burnout protection (upscale only) and lead compensation error rated at = 0.02%/Ω.

Configuration Options

The Series SC1 is available in four primary configurations distinguished by power supply requirements and supported signal types:

  • SC1090 / SCL1090: Support voltage (4-20 mA, 10-50 mA, 0-20 mA, 0-10 V, -10 to +10 mV) and current inputs.
  • SC1290 / SCL1290: Support thermocouple types J, K, R, S, T, E; RTD Pt1000; 4-20 mA; 10-50 mA; 0-20 V; and -10 to +10 mV.

Power Supply Options

The series offers two power supply ranges based on the model prefix:

  • SC models (e.g., SC1090, SC1290): 85 to 265 VDC/VAC, 50 to 400 Hz.
  • SCL models (e.g., SCL1090, SCL1290): 12 to 24 VDC/VAC, 50 to 400 Hz.

Mechanical and Electrical Features

The module is designed for DIN rail mounting with screw-driven compression type wiring terminals. It includes dual-color LED indicators per set point (Red = relay on, Green = relay off) and a manual reset switch on the front panel. The latch circuit resets automatically at power up or manually via the front switch.

Key Product Differences

The primary distinction between models lies in their input capabilities and voltage requirements:

  • SC1090 vs. SCL1090: Both handle process signals (voltage/current), but the SC1090 accepts 85-265 VDC/VAC power, while the SCL1090 is limited to 12-24 VDC/VAC.
  • SC1290 vs. SCL1290: Both handle thermocouple and RTD inputs alongside process signals; similarly, SC1290 uses the wide-range power supply (85-265 V), whereas SCL1290 requires low-voltage DC/AC input.

The series complies with DIN EN 50022-35. An optional A-360 Aluminum DIN rail (1 m) is available as an accessory.
