Supported Applications
The Omega HANI™ Clamp Sensor is a high accuracy non-invasive temperature sensor designed for industrial applications. It utilizes hybrid temperature sensing technology to measure fluid temperature inside metal pipes without penetrating the pipe wall or requiring process shutdowns.
Operating Conditions & Performance
This series measures liquid temperatures in the range of -20 to 100 °C (-4 °F to 212 °F). The sensor is specified for use with water and water-based fluids, though other process mediums are available upon request. It requires a straight pipe section at least 2.5" long for mounting.
Performance specifications include an accuracy of ±0.5 °C (±0.9 °F) to ±1.0 °C (±1.8 °F), depending on calibration status, with fluid flowing. The response time is documented as 5 sec (t63) and 10 sec (t90). Ambient operating temperature limits are 0 to 40 °C (32 to 104 °F).
Configuration Options
The HANI series supports a configurable envelope of pipe sizes, output options, and connectivity interfaces.
- Pipe Diameters: Standard configurations are available for nominal industrial metal pipes in 1", 2", 2.5", 3", and 4" diameters. Other sizes are offered upon request.
- Housing & Materials: The sensor construction includes PA12, silicone rubber, nickel-plated brass, and stainless steel components. It carries an IP67 rating when mated.
- Electrical Output: A 4 to 20 mA loop-powered analog output is provided via an M12 8-Pin connector. The power supply requirement is 8 VDC - 28 VDC (loop powered).
- Smart Core Features: All units are Omega Smart Core enabled, supporting data logging, plug-and-play device detection, alarms, notifications, and SYNC configuration.

The series integrates with the following optional interfaces to enable wireless or wired communication protocols:

Cabling and connection accessories include the M12.8-T-SPLIT shielded T-splitter, field install connectors with screw terminals, and dual M12-8 connector cables in lengths of 1 m (3.3"), 3 m (9.8"), or 5 m (16.4") available as straight or right-angle terminators.

- Pipe Size Codes: Model numbers reflect specific diameters (e.g., 1.0I, 2.0I, 2.5I, 3.0I, 4.0I).
- Calibration Options: Models with the CAL-3 suffix include a factory calibration certificate based on three points at 10 °C, 50 °C, and 90 °C.
- User Calibration: A CAL-4 option is available for user-selected temperature point counts and values; this requires contacting the manufacturer for a quote.
