Supported Applications
The Omega LC8000-TALL Series comprises tall, through-hole compression load cells designed for industrial force measurement. These rugged sensors feature all stainless steel construction and are engineered to accommodate capacities ranging from 3000 lb (1361 kgf) up to 150,000 lb (68,058 kgf). The series is NIST Standard compliant and RoHS compliant.
Operating Conditions & Performance
The LC8000-TALL Series operates within an ambient temperature range of -54 to 121°C (-65 to 250°F), with a compensated temperature range of 16 to 71°C (60 to 160°F). Performance specifications include linearity and accuracy values of ±0.5% FSO, repeatability of ±0.1% FSO, and zero balance of ±2.0% FSO. Thermal effects are rated at ±0.009% FSO/°C for Zero and ±0.018% rdg/°C for Span.
Electrical requirements specify an input excitation voltage of 10 Vdc (15V maximum). The sensors provide a nominal output signal of 2 mV/V with an input resistance minimum of 360 Ω and an output resistance of 350 ±5 Ω. Mechanical limits include a safe overload capacity of 150% of rated capacity and an ultimate overload limit of 300% of rated capacity.
Configuration Options
The series offers multiple physical configurations to suit different installation requirements, with overall dimensions varying by model. The LC8151 models feature a diameter and height of 38 mm (1.50 in). Larger capacities utilize the LC8251 (64 mm / 2.50 in OD) or LC8301/LC8302 series (76 mm / 3.00 in OD), with heights ranging from 51 mm (2.00 in) to 76 mm (3.00 in). All units are constructed of 17-4 PH stainless steel.
Key configurable parameters include:
- Capacities: Available from 3,000 lb up to 150,000 lb (corresponding kgf values provided in ordering tables).
- Bore Sizes (ID): Options include 0.50", 0.75", 1.26", and 1.51" inner diameters depending on the model series.
- Process Connection: Through-hole design with a 1/2-14 NPT thread featuring a 7/8 hex for installation.
- Electrical Output: Standard connection via a 1.5 m (5') 4-conductor shielded cable with strain relief.
The series includes compatible meter options such as the DP41-S, DP25B-S, and DPIS models for specific capacity ranges.
Key Product Differences
Variants within the LC8000-TALL Series are distinguished by outer diameter (OD), height (H), inner diameter (ID), and rated capacity. The model number guide follows the format LC8XXX-XXX-XXK, where segments denote capacity, ID size, and series type.
- LC8151: 38 mm (1.50 in) OD x 38 mm (1.50 in) H; available with 0.50" or 0.75" ID for capacities up to 25,000 lb.
- LC8251: 64 mm (2.50 in) OD x 64 mm (2.50 in) H; available with 1.26" ID for capacities from 50,000 lb to 100,000 lb.
- LC8301: 76 mm (3.00 in) OD x 51 mm (2.00 in) H; available with 1.26" ID for capacities from 75,000 lb to 100,000 lb.
- LC8302: 76 mm (3.00 in) OD x 76 mm (3.00 in) H; available with 1.51" ID for the maximum capacity of 150,000 lb.
All units come complete with a 5-point NIST-traceable calibration and include shunt data specifications (59 kΩ).
