Supported Applications
The Omega PHE-5431, -5432, and -5433 series comprises universal industrial pH sensors designed for tough measurement applications. These steam-sterilizable combination electrodes are engineered to withstand high temperatures and pressures in continuous processing applications and harsh conditions.
Operating Conditions & Performance
The series operates within a temperature range of -5 to 135°C (23 to 275°F) at 25 psig. The maximum pressure rating is 500 psig @ 25°C (77°F). Measurement capability covers the pH Range from 0 to 14 with an accuracy of ±0.1% over full range. Sodium error is less than 0.05 pH in 0.1 Molar Na+ ion @ 12.8 pH, and drift is specified as less than 2 mV per week.
Key Performance Specifications
- pH Range: 0 to 14
- Temperature Range: -5 to 135°C (23 to 275°F) @ 25 psig
- Maximum Pressure: 500 psig @ 25°C (77°F)
- Sodium Error: Less than 0.05 pH in 0.1 Molar Na+ ion @ 12.8 pH
- Drift: Less than 2 mV per week
Configuration Options
The series features a glass body with a porous PTFE liquid double junction and a specifically formulated low-impedance glass membrane. This configuration supports extended periods of pH measurement in the presence of poisoning ions or where membrane leaching would shorten electrode life.
Construction & Materials
- Housing Material: Glass outer body with a glass membrane
- Wetted Materials: PTFE, glass membrane, glass outer body
- Diameter: 12 mm (0.47")
- Cable: Proprietary TPE high-temperature/ultra-low noise cable designed to prevent melting from steam line contact and reduce motion-generated noise
- Mounting: Includes a 316 SS Mounting Gland with Retain Nut and Internal O Rings (shown with Gland Fitting Option)
Sensor Options & Accessories

- Cable Length: Standard 3 m (10') cable
- Included Items: Comes complete with operator's manual
Key Product Differences
The series includes distinct model configurations for pH and oxidation-reduction potential measurements. The PHE-5432-10 is a glass body, porous PTFE liquid junction pH electrode. Models with ATC are designated as PHE-5432-10-(*) where the suffix specifies the sensor type (e.g., -PT100 or -PT1K). The ORE-5432-10 is an oxidation-reduction potential electrode sharing similar construction features.
Storage instructions require keeping electrodes moist in a potassium chloride solution, pH buffer 4.0, or pH buffer 7.0; distilled or deionized water must not be used for storage as it will drastically reduce the electrode lifespan.
